Moms of crawlers Q.

Are your crawlers free to roam in whatever room you are in or are you fencing them in?

My dd is crawling up a storm and getting into everything.....and banging her head 100 times a day....do you think its worth my while getting one of those foam playmats to put down in the main area so she wont bang her head as much?

TIA

We live in a ranch so we have no stairs to worry about. I usually gate the kitchen and close the bed room and bathroom doors and let Sara go free. I just keep an eye on her.

Re: Moms of crawlers Q.

those mats are a lifesaver!
when my son began to crawl, my days consisted of me following him all over the house & catching him (or attempting to!) bef he fell.
My house wasnt the safest place to crawl free bc we were under construction at the time, so i was really so nervous all the time.
Then I went to TRU & bought like 3 bags of those foam cushion blocks and a big gate & gave him 1 room to crawl freely...it changed my life!! lol
I would suggest getting the biggest squares you can find-those small ones w/the letters & numbers that pop out get messy. If you can find those big blue gymnastic mats i would def suggest those!

Re: Moms of crawlers Q.

Thank you. I will go online and get those now...it seems in one week she has gone from sitting up to crawling and now pulling herself up onto everything...will she be walking by next weekChat Icon

I feel so sad when she falls and bangs her head.

A friend gave us one set of stair gates but its the safety first one and I think someone posted on here that their child was able to climb up them so will have to buy other ones.

Oh how fast they growChat Icon

Thanks

Re: Moms of crawlers Q.

We have a small house, so remember that! But we have a foam mat in the living room, and I let him roam from room to room really and follow him if I can't see him. Usually I just listen out for crashes, and if the crash isn't followed by screaming...well then, he is fine.

We live in a typical British house...its a central hallway with the rooms off of it, so each room has a door that shuts (they design them this way to keep the heating in) so he doesn't have that far to go. But usually I let him crawl around and listen out for crashes!
