Mom's of infants
How much time does your child spend in/with toys vs. one on one play with you?

Re: Mom's of infants
My daughter is just 6.5 weeks - so she isn't into toys yet. She's just now starting to hold her attention to a certain object and start to grab.
The most she enjoys is an hour or two in the swing - other than that - I hold her or have her in the bouncey seat and play with her if she isn't asleep.

Re: Mom's of infants
My son is almost 6 months and he goes to daycare. I'd say he spends more than half the day playing on the floor with the other babies, or by himself. I also try to sneak him away for a little while when I'm on lunch.

Re: Mom's of infants
I try to get atleast 1 hour a day of just playtime time one on one. I read a book called Baby's first skills by Dr. Miriam Stoppard and she said you should aim for at least one hour a day of one on one interaction. It doesn't necessarily have to be one hour all at once but go for a total of one hour (according to the author).
Also, don't forget you are spending time with them during feedings, changing, bath time...
I think time on their own is good for babies. They learn how to sooth and entertain themselves and as they grow older they start to develop their imagination.
As long as they aren't stuck in front of the TV all day and you vary their activities (time with you, reading books, exercauser, bouncy seat, playpen...) you can get a happy balance of time with you and time alone.
Just my opinion
