Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in? UPDATE...YAY!
DD will be 3 in September.
About 10 days ago she requested to use her toilet and she's been using it every day during the day for peepee. She's been doing exceptionally well for the past 3 or 4 days. Yesterday, she wore underwear for most of the day and did great.
As far as poop , she hasn't even gone in about 2 or 3 days. I'm afraid she's holding it in because she's scared.
Otherwise, this training stuff is a real PITA! She can't make up her mind so I'm taking her shorts on and off all day long, usually for no reason! I cannot WAIT for this phase of life to end!!
What's your kid doing?
Update! Shortly after I wrote this post, DD pooped on her toilet for the first time. She said she needed to use the toilet and I said, "You know you can do poopoo on the toilet too." She just looked at me and said with a straight face, "I know" and she DID IT!! We went right to Target and she picked out a few packages of underwear as her reward!! YAY!

Nothing, I've tried a few times, put the underwear on her and put her on the potty at least 10 times an hour. But, without fail, she goes pee pee in her big girl undies every time.
SO im just convinced that she isnt ready yet lol

Jenna is completely daytime potty trained, she even wears panties during her naps. At night we use a diaper though
ETA she will be 3 in September

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
My boys will be 3 in august and they are trained during the day. They wear pull ups at night, but I really think one doesn't need to, but I am scared to try and find out. I don't want to be changing sheets in the middle of the night or be helping them in the potty, since they have not mastered doing it completly by themselves at this point.

Alex will be 3 in September.
For about a month she has been using hte potty consistently for peepee. Only this past weekend did she start using it for poopy. And now, of course, she is holding it in until I get home to go poopy on the potty, which, of course, is making her grumpy and uncomfortable.
For about two weeks I've been sending her to school in her undies, and she's been napping in them with no accidents.
She's still using a diaper for bedtime though.
We never used pull-ups - went straight to undies.

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
My oldest just turned 3 and does great when he is sans pants/diapers/underwear. Bare bottom he will go in the potty everytime, with anything on, he will use it as a diaper. It's frustrating...we haven't been going many places lately.

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
Bella will be three in September as well. She is potty-trained almost completely for peepee...does great but still has accidents here and there.
As for pooping, my very regular child who has always pooped several times a day...well, she is having some issues with that. She has gone in her underwear a significant amount of times at school and at home and just flat out refuses to do it on the potty. We have her in pull-ups a portion of the time because of it. She thinks they are both "underwear".
I feel no stress yet because she truly isn't even three yet, and I don't want her to freak out about it, but I am stumped on how to get her to poop on the potty.
ETA: She appears to completely understand the concept...yet has no interest/desire to do so.

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
Emma will be 3 in November. Right now she wants nothing to do with the potty. She goes thru phases where she will pee pee and poopy on the potty and phases when she just won't. She also wants nothing to do with underwear.

Ryan is 2 and a half and we haven't even started. He is not ready yet. He follows me in the bathroom, and gets a kick out of the toilet flushing, and waves bye bye. I think in the fall he might be, so I will start at that time.

DS is almost 2 1/2 and he does the same things!!! He's so not ready but MIL (who watches him during the day) wants to start him already. I told her it's a waste of her time.
The other day, DS said he had to go pee pee. So, I took him upstairs, got his diaper off, got the stool ready and he stepped up on it, positioned himself over the toilet and shook his hips and said "nope, not working" and got back down.

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
Nate turned 3 on June 1st and he's been daytime trained for the last 3-4 months. Most nights I still put a diaper on him, but often he wakes up dry. He actually asks to put a diaper on at night. He still comes into our bed in the middle of the night, so DH is not thrilled with the idea of him not wearing a diaper.

Do you give Bella rewards for going potty? We used to give Alex a skittle and a sticker for each time she used the potty, until she really go the hang of going peepee, but still refused to go poopy.
So last Friday I told her that, like Mommy, she already learned how to go peepee on the potty and that candy is only for when you are STILL learning, so no more candy for peepee, only candy for poopy.
She poopied on the potty that day (god forbid I take away her precious skittles! )

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
DS turned 2 in March and we're no where close to potty training. With DD being born in April I wasn't about to try to potty train with a newborn on the way. He'll tell me when he poops, but could sit in a wet diaper all day. In the past week or two he's been really interested in the potty and always wants to sit on it. This morning he handed me a diaper full of poop. We might try soon since he seems so into it now.

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
My dd will be 3 next Tuesday and she JUST trained last weekend. She had no interest at all and was actuall afraid to go. Last Thursday we had a break through. She finally peed and it has really been fairly easy from that point on. She wears big girl underwear and we have only had one accident. She did poop on the potty but she is still a little afraid and has to be "forced to go". She would hold it if I was not pushing the issue. Cookies as a reward has helped with the poop issue too. Good luck. I agree it is a pain but in the end it is worth it.

DD is the same age and she's been potty trained since about March but we still use pull ups at night. I'm sure I could work on that but I'm just too lazy to risk changing sheets all the time.

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
My son turned 3 in April and I believe I started in Jan. It took us about 2mos to be completely day trained. I still put a diaper on at night once he's sleeping because if he's still awake he will take it off. I think he is almost night trained but every 3 days or so he wets his diaper so I don't want to stop using the diaper at night until he wakes up dry for about 2-3wks in a row.

I feel like I'm doing something wrong
Ryan will be 3 on the 23rd of June and he is so afraid of the potty. If I try to have him sit on it he cries!

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
We are not really ready...she tells me after she went in her diaper. I can't tell when she has to do peepee but can usually tell when she is pooping. She likes to sit, wipe, flush and wash her hands.
Now that I am only working 2 days a week this summer I have to be better with trying to get her to go on the potty
eta: she will be 3 in September

we don't do treats like that. Maybe we should. I wonder what I could give her though as she doesn't really eat any candy (she does love reeses, although she would be on permanent sugar high if I gave her a mini-reeses every time) And she has a box of stickers....hmmmmmmmmmm

Well, concededly, we also use a sticker chart, and I offered to give her TWO stickers for poopy with TWO skittles. Alex never eats candy so it was like heaven for her to get it.
I also offered to buy her a BIG poopy present for the first time she went poopy on the potty. Right after she went poopy she got SO excited and asked to go to the toy store to pick her present - we made a big thing out of going to the store and letting her pick her gift.

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in?
My son is 4 and thankfully he trained by his 3rd birthday One down, 1 to go.
My DD just turned 2 and we've started, but haven't gone anywhere with it yet (including in the toilet! ). I know when she's pooping, so I take her to the potty. Either I'm too late, or she holds it in and doesn't go. But she knows - she hates being in a dirty diaper. She gets a clean diaper, comes to me and tells me "I'm stinky, need a clean dipey"

Re: Moms of kids over 2...can we do a potty-training check-in? UPDATE...YAY!
Julia will be 3 in July! She is 100% potty trained and she did it all herself! She decided she didn't want to wear a diapers anymore and would keep pulling at it and taking it off and was talking about big girl underwear, so my DH put her on the toilet one night and she went, and never went back to diapers again! I thought it was going to take me forever to potty train her, but at 7 months preggo with DS she got trained. No accidents at night either.
