Moms of kids with Seasonal Allergies
I dont remember if you remember my saga from this time last year where we found out DS had a combo and cat allergies and seasonal. SO badly that his eyes swelled shut if he was near the cat or outdoors. He wasnt allowed to go out with the kids at daycare ALL spring bc he would just break out from being outside.
Well we rehomed our cat last year, but the allergies are starting again. All the same symptoms just less severe. But his eyes are a little swollen and dark, he has the tell tale red line across the bridge of his nose. He is constantly itching his nose and ears. His eyes are watery. I started him back on the Zyrtec but its only mildly helping. I have an appt wth the ped next week to try to nip it in the bud.
What do you do to alleviate allergies, what is your DC on? I dont want him to turn into the mess he was last year and also be housebound ALL spring long.

My niece (2 1/2) is going through the same thing right now. Not quite as severe but pretty bad. My sister has her on Zyrtek and is waiting to hear back from the doctor on what else to give her because it just is not enough.
I know she puts Euclyptis oils in the tub to help ease the congestion and clear her out. She rubs it on the bottom of her feet too. It does help and smells good too!

Re: Moms of kids with Seasonal Allergies
Thanks ladies. Its unbelievable...I watch the pollen count like a hawk and he has such sensitive allergies, that the minute the count went up to low they started. Yesterday was moderate and he was a mess by the end of the day. Poor little guy!
Ill have to check out the eucalyptus oil, thanks!

Re: Moms of kids with Seasonal Allergies
I took DS to an allergist in the beginning of winter and discovered that he has allergies that will affect him for most of the year. She told me the first sign of a cold/coughing I should start giving him Zyrtec. She wants me to see how he makes out this spring, and told me if he is having a very tough time with it, she might recommend a nasal spray.

I suspect Eddie has allergies that didnt show up last year too bc he has a phlegmy cough from drip almost year round.
I should ask about starting Zyrtec at the first sign of a cold/coughing.
