Moms of lily-white babes.....
What sun block do you use? When do you put it on (every morning, regardless of plans?). How often do you reapply?
I see all these pics of people's little ones out at the beach and pool and I am JEALOUS!!!! I am SO worried about DD getting burned- so we haven't done any fun outdoor activities that involve lots of sun exposure.
Edited for terrible grammar....

Re: Mom's of lily-white babes.....
My kid is translucent.
We always have a hat and I use the Coppertone Kids Continuous spray in 50 for him whenever we are going to be outside for any length of time.
And I try to keep him in the shade as much as possible, but these days he's everywhere so that's hard to do.

We use the Banana Boat Baby SPF 50...first the lotion all over, then reapply with the Water Babies stick on her face and the continuous spray Banana Boat Baby on her body...I also try to keep her in the shade if possible.

Re: Mom's of lily-white babes.....
I use California Baby SPF 30. I don't always put it on him right away. I let him get some sun, like for example if we're in the park, I'll let him be out on the sun for 15-20 minutes and then I put on sunblock. DS always has a hat on though.

Re: Moms of lily-white babes.....
Baby blanket for body and one for face. SPF 50 and 45. UVA and UVB
DS is very fair skin. He wears a SPF 50 swim shirt to protect he little body. We did not do the beach though. I would get a tent for shade too.

I use California Baby. The lotion on DD's body & the stick for her face. I LOAD it on big time. She is so pale like me. I am so worried about sunburn. Dh thinks I'm nuts.

Re: Mom's of lily-white babes.....
I am a *freak* about keeping DD protected since she's so fair.
I put her in the shade when we're outside, although since we have awesome tree coverage in our back yard, I don't put sunblock on her if we're in the shade...I know some people do, but I do feel a little sun exposure (vitamin D) is good for her, and that she's safe b/c she's not in the direct sun at all then.
So I only put sunblock on her if we're going to be in the sun, and she wears an SPF sunhat too. I use Earth's Best sunblock, it's SPF 30.
I'm too neurotic to take her to the beach in the sun, I'll drag an umbrella with me I think.

I have a translucent child with blond hair!!!!!!!!!!!!! I use Banana Boat 50 and then bring a spray sunscreen with me and apply it a few times (can't remember the name). He hasn't gotten a burn yet and he even has a LITTLE tan.

Re: Moms of lily-white babes.....
I put sunbock on my DD every morning when she gets dressed - that way, I don't have to worry at all. She is very pale and gets those red cheeks in heat.
I use Banana Boat Dri Block for Kids in SPF 30. I also use the stick sunblock on her face too. And she always wears a hat, if I remember!

Re: Moms of lily-white babes.....
Anyone have a fair-skinned child, with only a little bit of hair that refuses to keep a hat on??
If I take DD out in the sun, I load her with sunblock, but rubbing it onto her scalp does not produce good results for what hair she does have!
Anyone find a good hat that will stay on? Or any other suggestions?

Re: Moms of lily-white babes.....
If we're going to be out in the sun at a park, in the backyard, or out for a walk, I use California Baby SPF 30 plus a hat (if DD allows it ).
Since I couldn't find a more 'natural' sunblock past 30 SPF, I plan on using Water Babies SPF 50 at the beach and pool. Her little feet got burnt at the beach using 30 and I won't let that happen again!!

Re: Moms of lily-white babes.....
I know I'm no help because you know my kid has a tan in the winter, but coppertone babies works VERY WELL... I would put it on in the morning if you plan to be outside that day... and reapply every 2 hours depending on how sunny it is...
Don't be afraid of the sun... Maddie is fair but she's not UBER white-- like cousin Dylan... you know?

Re: Moms of lily-white babes.....
Both my kids are pasty. I am big on the long sleeved swim shirts when we are at the pool or beach. I use the water babies sunblock.
I also use the baby blanket scalp sunblock. Not a great look for their hair but who cares. If anything it just looks wet.

Re: Moms of lily-white babes.....
I use Coppertone SPF 50 lotion and then Banana Boat SPF spray when I reapply (I'm notorious for missing spots on myself so I don't want to chance it with him!). He wears a hat with velcro straps to keep it on and we have a tent for the beach. I reapply pretty frequently at the beach.
Funny how I was obssessed last summer that I'd get a baby who I was certain WOULDNT be as fair as me and maybe even tan since DH is more olive-skinned. Boy was I wrong!
