Moms of little girls- TMI/Personal- Can you come in?
So, last night while I was giving DD a bath, DD was touching her private parts and telling me that they hurt. When we got out of the bath, she had to go pee pee on the potty, and when she started to pee, she said "oww!" I asked her if it hurts when she goes to the bathroom, and she said that it does- and it hurts when she goes in her diaper too.
This morning, she said it still hurts. I made a Ped appt for her for this afternoon- but what do you think this could be? Bladder infection? UTI?
The nurse on the phone at the Dr said she has to pee in a sterile cup before she comes or else they will have to "bag" her (does that mean she'll have a catheter put it?)
Help!
Oh- and don't quote because I'll probably be taking this down.

Most likely a urinary tract infection. It happens. Hope she feels better soon!

Hopefully it's just a UTI. As for the bag, no, she didn't mean a catheter. If your DD isn't trained yet, they literally have to tape a bag to her body and inside her diaper to collect the urine.

Sounds like a UTI. I don't think the bag is a catheter. I think they put a bag inside the diaper to collect the urine sample if you can't get a sample in a cup.

probable a uti
when they say "bag her" they tape a sterile bag onto her vagina and wait for the pee...if she cannot or will not pee, they MAY have to cath her
when this happened to miki, just the sight of the cath tube made her want to pee into the sterile cup

UTI's are very common in little girls (I used to work at a ped office). DD recently also told me her "privates" hurt and was saying ow. I waited a day and she had no more complaints so it could have cleared up on its own. They will put a bag on her to catch the urine to test it. Hope she feels better!

DD was "bagged" a couple of weeks ago
it's not a catheter (thankgod!)
they tape a bag on using what looks like "U" shaped tape and then you WAIT
it took DD over an hour to pee  
GL to you and your LO!

It sounds like a UTI. Is she potty trained? If so, bring her to the dr and ask for a sterile cup. If she will do it in the bathroom great ...if you don't think she will..pack up your little potty and stick it in the car. Put the cup inside the potty basin and you can catch urine that way.
