Moms, question about pediatricians. ..
What if the pediatrician you've chosen isn't associated w/ the hospital you plan on delivering at?
Is this going to cause a problem?
A little background, I'm delivering at South Nassau in Oceanside, but I live in KP - so the pediatrician I will most likely be using is in Northport. I know it's crazy that I'm going that far, it's a long story.
Is this going to be a major PITA at the hospital?
Thanks!!

Wasn't a problem for me! I delieverd in NSUH and lived in NYC at the time so my ped was there. My OB recc a ped to have DS checked out in the hospital. I ended up using that ped when me moved.

No when you deliver your OB will recommend a ped while you & the baby are in the hospital for your DC to be looked at by. After that, you can go to who ever you want.

Our ped wasn't associated with our hospital. There's a good chance they won't be. You'll be going to the hosp. that your ob/gyn is associated with, and there's no guarantee that your ped will be as well.

Not a problem at all. The hospital will arrange for the baby to be examined by one of their pediatricians. You just have to see your ped a couple of days after you're released from the hospital.

no problem, you'll just have the hospital ped check out your baby in the hospital (AMAZING hospital BTW, DS was born there!)
My ped was affiliated and I still had to bring DS in 2 days after he was discharged anyway.
I wouldn't worry

It won't be a problem. You just see your ped a day or two after you leave the hospital.

it wasn't an issue for us. they assigned a ped to DD while we were in the hospital and I brought her to her pediatrician right after she came home.

No, ask your OBGYN to recommend someone at the hospital. My ped is on Long Island near our home, but I delivered at Beth Israel, so I used the doctor my OB recommended there. When we came home, DS saw his ped here.
