Mom's Wedding dress and daughters?
Ok, I may be able to sell my wedding dress but my DH doesn't want me to in case our daughter (who is almost 10 months old) wants to wear it herself. I told him that she will think it's ugly and will want her own dress. So we're not in agreement here. WDYT? It still needs to be cleaned and preserved so that will cost money.

I love that idea-I would save it.. If she doesn't care for the style, maybe she will want to use the fabric for her gown.

ITA!! I'd keep it. Chances are, she probably won't want to wear it (since even if I could fit into my Mom's, I wouldn't have wanted to), but it's a nice keepsake to have!

Your daughter will probably never wear it so if you can use the money, sell it. Or sell it and put the money in her college fund.

Re: Mom's Wedding dress and daughters?
My mom saved her dress for me not my style at all but I did wear her veil!!! It was also her moms so alot of history I will also offer that to my daughter when the time comes. It was very simple and a classic piece

Re: Mom's Wedding dress and daughters?
I had my dressed cleaned and preserved right after our wedding. When DD was being Christened, I brought it out and had part of it made into her christening gown. I will take it out again when she makes her communion and have part of it used for part of her dress.
I did not want my mothers outdated dress, I doubt my daughter would want mine.

Re: Mom's Wedding dress and daughters?
I wore my mom's veil. I really hope that DD will continue the tradition and wear it as well. My mom wanted me to wear her dress but I did not like it. I had my dress preserved. If DD wants it she can wear it. If not, it holds a lot of wonderful memories for me and I am happy that I had it preserved after my wedding.

I had my dress preserved so that when my DD's marry I can turn the train of my dress into their money bags

If I needed the money to support my family then I would sell it, otherwise I'd keep it.

Re: Mom's Wedding dress and daughters?
My Sister and I would have loved to wear our Mother's but it wasn't really preserved and when it taken out and cleaned after all those years up got ruined and fell apart
Mine is preserved to at least give DD that option

Re: Mom's Wedding dress and daughters?
I went for a very traditional timeless gown in hopes I could pass it down to my daughter. I have it saved for her.
