Moms who also have dogs
How do you keep your human babies from getting into your furbabies' toys? We have 2 dogs who love to chew, so there are I think around 4 million bones and chew toys in our house. We keep them on the living room floor, usually all in one place as best we can. We have trained the dogs to know which toys are theirs and which are Kieran's. But when Kieran is on the floor playing with his toys on a blanket, he sometimes scooches or rolls off and grabs a dog toy, which of course, goes right into his mouth. We want the dogs to be able to get to their toys so we don't want to put them in a box or anything. Kieran's only 7 months old so we can't exactly reason with him. Any suggestions??

I have the opposite problem! The dog is constantly going after the girls' toys!

Re: Moms who also have dogs
same boat - i just try to keep giving other toys - i keep most of my dog's toys in a basket that he pulls out whenever he wants a toy
my problem is that his raw hide bones keep braking off small pieces
we have a dog free play area to keep my son's toys and dog toys separate

Forget that.. how do you teach the baby not to eat the dog food??
We don't have a dog anymore ( ) but, My Mom does and Liam is into the dog food so much. Poor puppies can't eat when Liam is visiting.. or drink for that matter.. he dumps the water dish.. over and over...
So good luck with the toy thing. At least the dogs know which toys to play with.

Re: Moms who also have dogs
i know my parents have a toy box for their dogs that the dogs go in and out of. the box is a nice size and still makes the toys totally accessible for them. not sure if this will help ...
my DS sometimes goes for the dog's toys, but i take it away and he's fine. our issue is that DS chases the dog in his walker ... it's funny to watch, but i feel so bad for my dog!

I keep the dog's toys in his crate. He drags them out to play with them, I put them back in. He drags them out, I put them back in. All day. In between, Julie plays with them. Do I try to stop her? Yes. Does a dog toy sometimes go in her mouth? Yes. So far, no sign of worms.

My DD will have a5-6 of her own toys out and wants nothing to do with it, she would rather play with my dogs chewed up, ratty old tennis ball. The ebst I can do is keep them in the dogs bed which is in a corner between our two couches so DD cant get to it....yet.

Maddie only has two toys - football guy and dracula (both stuffed toys). Ann pretty much takes them from her or picks them up when they are on the floor and hugs them or BITES them
We tell her no. Tell her they belong to Maddie (so she'll point at Maddie) and take them away.
