Mom's who had c-sections...
Do I need to contact my insurance to tell them I am having one, now that I know? I tried to get them on the phone, but all they have is an automated voice recognition system and I cannot get a real person on the phone. I'm just freaking that something won't be covered. The hospital said they will call, but suggests that the patient does as well. Just curious if anyone else had to call?

my csection was not planned. i never called my insurance to tell them i was having one. i assume, the hospital or my doc took care of it. i never received a bill, things went great.

Yeah, I was thinking, what if it had been an emergency c-section? Then I wouldn't have time to call them. I'm not going to worry too much about it. I'll go crazy if I do!

Re: Mom's who had c-sections...
My c/s was also not planned and I did not have to call. I did have to call though within a couple of days of the birth to tell them everything about the baby. So maybe you can just wait till then to tell them? I don't think it would hurt to keep trying to get through in the meantime though.
ETA: I just read your post on PG. Since your C/S is scheduled for Monday don't even sweat it.

I never did and had no problems. It will be covered, its medically necessary because your little girl is breech. No worries.

Re: Mom's who had c-sections...
My doctor told me to call the insurance company beforehadn to make them aware -- so I called them about 2 days before. We scheduled my c-section 4 days before she was born. They also had me call after to confirm that everything went through okay.
