thank you ladies. Although I am feeling even more nervous, its nice to know its not going to be the candy coated breeze that everyone keeps telling me about.
My two sils have had six c sections and loved them
I wonder why? They were up and moving within two days and carrying the baby. I know C sections are major surgery, but I wonder why some women prefer it over natural?
My sister also had two c sections and said she LOVED IT ...she said she was relieved never to experience horrible contractions and her biggest fear was having to push... I tell her all the time she is crazy

I just assumed they locally numbed the area when they stitched you, like if you had stitches anywhere else. This is not the case? Why?

Re: Moms... who had vaginal births... please...
My labor started very quickly, I had all of 2 contractions and my water broke. As soon as I timed them they were 5 minutes apart! I was at the hospital 45 minutes later and was about 4cm. I labored without anything until I was almost 7cm. I got the epidural but my bp dropped so they turned the epi down. It was not effective after that. I delievered without any pain med's because of this. Not the way I planned at all. It hurt but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined it would be.

by the way, when you are done and in post partum they give you this drug that makes you forget how horrible it is... it is in your food... it is their way of keeping business because now that i am pregnancy #2 i keep thinking "how could i forget how miserable i was"

I had a vaginal delivery with DS.
I also had an epidural.
I didn't feel anything besides pressure. I had no pain at all and I tore pretty bad. With the epi, my doc was able to stitch me up and I didn't feel a thing.
That's not to say I wasn't very sore after the fact and it took a little while for everything down there to feel "normal" again... but it was not anything like I imagined.
DS was also stubborn for a while and the nurses had to change my position to get him moving again! From the time I arrived at the hospital to the time I had him it was only 9hrs 45 min! I'm ready for #2 now and can't wait!!! It's not as bad as you think!

Re: Moms... who had vaginal births... please...
Its not BAD at all - at least mine wasn't. i did have an epidural and felt almost nothing, some tightening around my abdomen when the contractions came but very very bearable!!!
HEY - keep asking yourself - WHY would women continue to have babies if it was that horrific and painful!!?? They wouldn't! Trust me it isn't that bad. Our bodies were made to withstand childbirth, besides once the baby is in your arms - you will forget about everything!

Re: Moms... who had vaginal births... please...
I have been told I have a fairly high threshold for pain, so I am not sure if my opinion counts much. However, it really was not bad at all. It took me forever to dialate and I needed pitocin. I got the EPI after the second time they upped my dosage of pitocin. I was five almost 6 centimeters and afraid I would miss my window to get it. After I got the EPI, I felt no pain just pressure. The pushing part was a real workout but not awful.
I had my appendix out at 16 which is abdominal surgery but not as major as a C-Section. The recovery from that surgery was really hard and the last thing I wanted was to have a C-Section.
