Moms who use Dr.Augustine or Eisenberg Pediatrics
We are probably switching peds and I am hearing good things on here about these two doctors.
Just wondering if anyone would mind sharing their opinions/experiences with either of these doctors?
I am hoping to find someone who is supportive of BF, tries to go the natural route when possible rather than going right to meds, is slightly flexible with vaccines (we just spread them out a little), doesn't rush you out of the office, etc.
Our ped is ok..... but I am hoping to switch to someone who we feel is not just ok.
TIA!

I use Dr Eisenberg and love him and the practice It's him, his associate- Dr Patel (female) and a Nurse Practioner- Nicole.
All very nice, thorough, caring.
I can't speak to the BF since I never did it, or the vaccine schedule- since I do all ours on the recommended schedule- but I am sure you can call and ask to come for an interview and speak with them about their views on these issues.
I never have an issue getting an appt and wait times aren't bad either.
Dr Eisenberg is a sweetheart!

Re: Moms who use Dr.Augustine or Eisenberg Pediatrics
I switched to Dr E when DS was 2 1/2 - he had an ear infection (gave him drops) and wasn't himself for about 2 weeks when I had pneumonia and didn't give DS any meds...so I'd say he would wait on the meds.
I was only there 3 times - I didn't get the "OMG this is the best doc" feeling but I didn't want to squeeze his neck either. He was sort of middle.
I will say that we didn't have to wait too long which is very important for me.
ETA: This is prob the worst review of Dr E on LIF....the other mom's seem to rave about him.
DS likes him... he calls it his new doctor. He also says that he doens't hurt him...but he hasn't gotten a shot from him yet so...

I agree with all of the above and just wanted to add that he is very supportive of BF (I can't say about the other dr, she came after DD was weaned) and he is "slightly" pushy with vaccines, but if you are passionate, he in the end will tell you that its your decision. I am very happy with him, he is always patient, will answer each and every neurotic question that I have and never rushes me out the door.

That made me because Dr E was telling us at our last well visit that he his glad that his nurse gives all the shots so he won't be viewed as the "bad" guy to the kiddies...

Re: Moms who use Dr.Augustine or Eisenberg Pediatrics
We take our sons to Dr Augustine -- his office isn't much to look at --- but that's the only negative thing.
He's very supportive of the parents being involved and controlling the healthcare of the children. He gives us his opinion, but he lets us decide what we feel is best for them. Slow to prescribe antibiotics, but quick to return calls/concerns. Whenever one of our boys is sick, we call in the AM and we are seen that day. He also schedules newborn visits when he has the least numbers of patients around (so as to better protect their tiny immune systems) -- ie, our newborn checkups were always after his lunchbreak around 2pm.
He's great....
