mom's who went on disability before birth?

i have a question-

my doctor reccommends i go on disability now until i give birth which 15 weeks?

if i go out now on disability how does this affect my FMLA when i stay home after I give birth with the baby?

is it possible for me to be out 15 weeks NYS disability then 12 weeks under FMLA after I give birth? and still have my job when i return?

I went out on part time bedrest before baby was born, meaning i could only work 4 hours a day for 10 weeks.

For me, how my company did it, is my FMLA time ticked away while i was on bedrest then i could collect STD after baby was born.

THe STD and FMLA go hand in hand.

So if i hadn't gone on on STD, my FMLA coverage ended the end of august and my STD still ended 6 weeks after i had the baby. But since went out early my FMLA wound up ending july 12th. I either had to come back to work the next day, or my boss would fill my position. And SHE DID, cause i couldn't come back since daycare wouldn't start until the end of august.

I went out 1 week before my due date and my son didn't come until a week later and so that was 2 weeks taken from my FMLA and I didn't even have a baby yet! Sweetness is right, STD and FMLA work hand in hand, so since I was out 2 weeks before Michael was born, I went back to work when Michael was 10 weeks rather than him being 12 weeks old.

Maybe if you talk to your job before hand they will hold your position for you... it's worth a shot.

so i guess i would only get the 6 weeks or 8 weeks after the baby is born by law?

this stinks.... even then i would be out more than 12 weeks....

WIth my first child, I went out 4 weeks before he was born. I was paid STD. After he was born, it was FMLA for 12 weeks. They were only legally required to keep my job for me till 8 weeks PP, since those 4 weeks counted towards the 12 weeks. But I got paid for all 16 weeks and they were holding my job (I guess the job holding past the 12 weeks depends on your employer)

I was out alot on bedrest before Hayley was born and I took it unpaid because if I went out on disability, that would have taken away from the time I would have had for after she was born.
