Montauk
My DH wants to take me out east for my birthday this weekend coming up. What are some of the fun things to do and where should be eat? We may stay at the Montauk Manor or Ocean Beach hotel.
Or should we go to the city?

Re: Montauk
Ocean Beach is a sister property to my place. There isn't a whole lot to do this time of year, but it's still my favorite time of year out here. I love walking on the beach, browsing the shops at Gosman's Dock and riding at Deep Hollow Ranch. The lighthouse is open too.
My favorite places to eat are, O'Murphy's, Shagwon, Oyster Pond and Harvest and you have to go to John's Pancake house for breakfast!

Re: Montauk
Montauk can be a lot of fun. There's horseback riding, hiking at the State Park, visit the light house, stroll the town, walk the beach, etc. The Harvest is yummy - served family style and you will probably need a reservation. Dave's Grill is in the harbor and you have to go there at 4 to get a reservation. Shagwong in town is very good, it's a bit deceiving when you look in - looks just like a bar but there's a dining room. Murphy's is also good and has more "pub" like food.

Re: Montauk
We stay at Ocean Beach when we go. We love that it is right on the beach and last time we were there, we could hear the waves crashing on the shore while we were falling asleep. Have fun!

Re: Montauk
Shagwong and the Harvest are musts! So is John's for breakfast. Never stayed at Ocean Beach, but Montauk Manor is nice. Personally, I'd recommend staying somewhere directly on the ocean. We stay at Royal Atlantic East. $$$, but beautiful!!
Have a great time! I love Montauk in the fall (or any season, for that matter!)

After this storm, you may be even closer to the water. They lost a couple of feet last night.
