Montauk
Thinking about going to Montauk for the day. We love in Staten Island so it’s a bit far but I love it there. Was going to go to Hither Hills to go to the beach then the lighthouse then have dinner and get ice cream. Any food or dessert recommendations for little kids or somewhere to visit they may like. Thanks!!

We go to Montauk every summer. They opened a new donut shop right on the Main Street this summer. The donuts were delicious. All of the restaurants had outdoor dining but it’s first come first served so be prepared to wait. My DD likes Monatuk Circle Burger and the Gig Shack. We only ate out at a restaurant once and did take out the rest of the time. We ate it on the balcony of our hotel room.

Re: Montauk
There are actually a lot of restaurants in Montauk that are on Open Table so if you don't want to have to wait, book a reservation in advance. If you go on open table you can see what's available and then go on Yelp or Trip Advisor to read reviews on them We only eat indoors though- I hate eating outside. The exception was Cape May because Jersey is still outdoor only for some reason. Sometimes Open Table will let you choose indoor or outdoor though.

Re: Montauk
We just got back from there today. My boys loved the ice cream place - John's homemade, but there is a Pink Frog too. There is Sundae Donuts in the two story shopping center. Somebody mentioned the Gig Shack above. Just know they lost their liquor license so if you were hoping for a cocktail, that aint the place to go. I like eating at Gosman's with the kids. This time we ate at Shangwan's Tavern which was fine but it's nothing special. We also ate at the Star Island Yacht Club. I'm not sure if you have to be a member there but it was cool checking out the marina and seeing where they bring in the shark tournament weigh ins.

Re: Montauk
There is mini golf at Puff n Putt. You can also rent paddle boats i believe.
Harvest is very good. Family style.
Gig Shack is always good.
Gosmans is fun for the kids watching all the boats come in and out. They have an ice cream place there too. Around the corner is an ice cream shop that was taken over from Candied Anchor.
There is the lighthouse. You can park for a fee and walk around, walk down by the ocean. There are trails there too.

Re: Montauk
The Hamptons also make a great backdrop for family memories--especially South Hampton.
