Montreal vs Niagara Falls
DH and I are looking to spend a long weekend in Canada come September...and we're considering either Niagra Falls or Montreal.
For those who have been to either or both - what are your recommendations? Did you like one city more?
TIA!

Re: Montreal vs Niagara Falls
Hands down Montreal!!! There is so much more to do and see.
In Niagra honestly you get sick of the falls after like a day. After Maid of the Mist you're done. It's very touristy and IMO it's cheezy.
Montreal has a great culture. The food there is INCREDIBLE. We ate at some top notch French restaurants, and this one steakhouse, Gibby's, was phenominal. We did so much in 4 days.. Botanical Gardens, the cathedral, Biodome, the casino, La Ronde, seeing the underground shopping, did the bus tour to Mont Royal, walking around in old town, horse & carriage ride... it was an incredible trip. We stayed at the Marriott Renaissance.

Re: Montreal vs Niagara Falls
Thank you!
We have an opportunity to stay at the Ritz Carlton for a few days so that alone was selling us But after reading your review and looking up the places you mentioned...we're totally sold!
Thanks so much!

I agree we just went and had the BEST time. we stayed at the Centre Sheraton.... It was a GREAT time and the drive up wasn't that bad.

How long was your drive?
We're leaning towards flying since we're only going for 4 days...

Re: Montreal vs Niagara Falls
We drove as well. But we only used the car one night when we went to the casino. The rest of the time our hotel had a free shuttle and we used the subway.

Re: Montreal vs Niagara Falls
we drove to the casino, to Mont Royal to St. Joseph's Oratorie (which I HIGHLY recommend) and to the Biodome.. so we used the car quite a lot.
We didn't use cab or subway once- we walked EVERYWHERE we could...
