Moral Dilemma-Christmas card related-updated with a request

Okay, here is the problem. As many of you know, every year my brother takes Sabrina's pictures and together we design the card. he last two years were beautiful and I loved them....this year...

well, let's just say this year we have both been busy and bro hasn't had much time to work on a card. I don't have the software or skills so I depend on him.

So he finally finished the card and sent it to me (cutting it close, huh?) and I really don't love it. I feel it is flat and just thrown together.

So I went on Tiny Prints and found the card that was my inspiration and I made it and realized I could save it as a jpeg and order prints from Walmart if I wanted (I was surprised there wasn't a copyright protectionChat Icon )

Now do I tell my brother that i figured out I can do this? Or stick with his card? Or order half and half?

Would he be offended if you mention you love the Tiny Prints one and say something like "I know you're super busy so I don't want to keep pestering you for changes"?

I'd personally go with the one you love, if you know he wouldn't be offended.

Uhhhh, my brother is very...um...sensitive? And a bit temperamental. He is a musician but also dabbles in photography and such. Overall he is an artist. He admitted he didn't have time to figure out how to do the scroll work on the tiny prints one I like.

Be aware, that even though you can save the file off tinyprints as a jpeg, it may be lo-res, so when you use that preview file to print from you run the risk of it being very poor quality...grainy, blurry, possible pixelated type.

Just double check the resolution......you can FM me the file and Ill open it up in photoshop and check the resolution if you cant.

Re: Moral Dilemma-Christmas card related

I say it's just a Christmas card and not as important as your relationship with your brother.

The card will be up in someone's house for a week or two. Your relationship with your brother is forever.

Re: Moral Dilemma-Christmas card related

This is a tough call.

On the one hand, everything you've ever posted about your brother makes me think he'll be upset for not using his card, and I don't think a Christmas card is really drama worthy.

On the other hand, as someone who has designed several holiday cards, he has to know that the card he did for you is missing something.

I don't think I've helped you any, but I do understand. Chat Icon

d to the itto.

the card your brother made for you isn't as fancy, but it's still very nice.

the fact that he was busy and even bothered trying would make me stick with his.Chat Icon

I agree with this as well.

And I also agree with eddiesmommy that even though you might be able to save it, the resolution will probably not be so great, anything "right clicked and saved" even as a JPEG isn't going to look that greatChat Icon

Also, if Walmart sees "Tiny Prints" on it, they may not print it....

Re: Moral Dilemma-Christmas card related

Okay, so I think you all are right. It is just a card. And next year we will start earlier. And besides, there is nothing wrong with the photography. And maybe I can use a whole punch and put a red ribbon through the top to dress it up.

Now I need help with something else.

Anyone good with photoshop? I need to fix the coloring of DD's upper lip since her chapped red mustache is really obvious. And I want to get rid of a box that is showing from under the ottoman. Any takers?
