More Brazilian Straightening Questions!
I have very curly hair that I blow out so that it is wavy (not pin straight!) I love my hair when it is behaving, but in the warmer weather, it's VERY hard to control. Anytime I'm outdoors for a period of time, esp. near the water (which I happened to live near), I look like a big frizz ball! So..... my hairdresser has been trying to convince me to get the brazilian now for a long time. I have 2 major concerns that are stopping me though...
1- I DON'T want pin straight hair!!! I really don't want to lose the body and volume that I have - just the frizz!
2- I will be trying to have another baby within the next year and I have concerns about the possible affects of the product. I wouldn't do this when I'm pregnant of course, but I cant help but think that it may damage my eggs!! (had miscarriages in the past, so I'm always thinking about healthy little eggies!)
What do you think???!!! I'm very strongly considering it, but I'm still worried!

Re: More Brazilian Straightening Questions!
So I just had this done about a month ago.
Best money I ever spent. My hair has like zero frizz but I still have some body, it definetly does not hold a curl like it used to but it does not make your hair pin straight like the Japanese Straightning would do.
I am also TTC. You have to know that there is more than 1 type of Brazilian formula. I used the 1 day No chemical formula and it is 100% safe to get. There are some that have fermaldahyde in it and I would assume that one is not so safe to use if pregnant, but if you are not pregnant yet I cant see either of them having any negative effect.
You will LOVE the outcome, just do it LOL
Here is a before and after. This is completely air dried, did not even use a brush Image Attachment(s):

Really?! Thank you for letting me know! You're the first person that I've heard isn't happy. What was the texture of your hair before you did it? Do you blame the place/person that did it or do you feel the treatment just wasn't right for your hair? Hmmm... now I'm even more worried!

Re: More Brazilian Straightening Questions!
I have had it probably a dozen times so far. It did make my curls a bit looser but not much. I have also used different brands it and get the best results with the one you wash out right away and the worst results from the one you leave in 4 days.
None of them ever made my hair greasy or lost body of my hair. I can't live without it during the summer months.
I would look into some of the newer versions because they have less chemicals

Where did you get it done? I am in Suffolk and I'm looking for a place, but I'm willing to travel... TIA!

Re: More Brazilian Straightening Questions!
Hate to say it---chemical free is a misnomer. There has to be something in it that makes it work--and the more you learn about what is in these versions the less happy you'll be esp. while ttc. It "washes out" over time too--so that means you're breathing in all the stuff that makes it work in many steamy showers.
That's why I won't get any of these done--not even the so-called "chemical free". Too many inconvenient truths.

The Keratin treatment is really just a deep conditioning agent

Re: More Brazilian Straightening Questions!
I am not trying to sound negative, and I would, myself, get a treatment if someone could find one that truly had no chemicals/risks. Cn someone post the ingredient list for the nonchemical treatment?
I have asked my hairdresser about every version I have heard of, and she has told me that each one contains at least one chemical that it's not good o be around that makes it work. If it didn't, we could apply it ourselves.
Can someone post info about a version that is truly safe for someone who is around a small child all day?

I'm not sure what you mean about the one that washes out vs. the one that you leave in four days. Don't you get it done in the salon?
