As if Woody Harrelson didn’t have enough problems—he was questioned by police officers on March 2 when he got into a bar brawl at The Other Room in Venice, Calif., and on March 19 he was hit with a $2.5 million lawsuit by a photographer who accused him of battery (HP2)--now he’s learned that his 69-year-old father died in prison from a heart attack.

Woody’s dad, Charles Harrelson, was found dead in his cell at Supermax Federal Prison in Denver, Colorado, on the morning of March 15.

Charles was serving two life sentences for murdering a federal judge in San Antonio, Texas, in 1979.

Charles denied killing the judge, claiming he was in Dallas at the time.

A coroner discovered Charles was suffering from severe coronary artery disease and probably passed in his sleep.

Woody, 45, grew up without the presence of a father because Charles first went to prison when Woody was only seven for murdering a Texas businessman.

Woody’s publicist had no comment when the Associated Press broke the news of Charles’ death this morning.

Woody has quite the police record himself: In 1982 he was arrested for disorderly conduct in Ohio after dancing in the street.

In 1996 he was arrested twice: once for planting hemp seeds and the second time for climbing the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to protest the cutting of Redwood trees.

In 2002 he was arrested for vandalizing a taxi in London.

Woody was last seen in the films A Prairie Home Companion opposite Lindsay Lohan and A Scanner Darkly opposite Keanu Reeves.

In his next movie, The Walker, Woody stars as an upper crusty gentlemanlike escort to a wealthy society lady played by Lauren Bacall.
