I know its NY too, but I don't ever remember another winter where it snowed so consistently. It just hasn't stopped, its like every two days all winter long.

***Listen up. This was talked about on the air this morning with great disdain, LOL but it's becoming more and more likely.
If you haven't heard my forecast on WCBS Newsradio 880 I have upped the amounts as expected. The NWS offices have also followed with a Winter Weather Adv for many parts of the region and a Winter Storm Warning for eastern Suffolk (which is approx from Rt 46/ WFP on out to both twin forks. New London Cty CT is also included. A Winter Storm Wrng is in affect for RI up to Boston.
The way the advisories, watches and warnings have been issued is very confusing and we all know the weather doesn't stop at state or county borders, LOL.
Suffice to say, my feeling is this healthy but small system now will explode upon reaching the coastline. Exactly when this happens will determine whether the heaviest snow starts over the boros or Nassau or Suffolk. Every storm has been tough lately, each with its own personality and this one now fits into its own category of timing, not necessarily track. It's gonna happen, but when?
Best guess now is sticking with the initial 1-3" snowfall for much of the area. Also taken into consideration is a 'daylight' snow with temps around freezing. Major roads usually handle that well and stay slushy or even wet..
B U T as the snow is winding down over western suburbs late in the day, it will be ramping up quickly to the east and last into part of Sat night. I can see central LI getting 3-6" and the east end up to 8". The rapid intensification will mean howling winds, possible lightning and thunder and near whiteout conditions the farther east you are/ closer to the storm. Block Island, Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard could have blizzard conditions.

refer to that 1/13 post with all the question marks. It's scary how often the scenario over only 24-48 hours notice of snow is working out. When in a snowy season; forecast snow!
