Morning sickness and weight gain
Just a random thought in my head. Did anyone notice a connection to morning sickness and weight gain? The people who I have known who suffered bad m/s ended up gaining more weight all at the end and the people who had NO m/s gained average amounts of weight.
Has this been true with anyone compared to their friends and family?
I have too many ideas going through my head.

I totally found this untrue so far. I had severe MS up until the 15th week. I am at week 23 and Ive only gained about 2 pounds. I think weight gain during prenancy is much more family related then MS related. I am also carrying very well and small like my mother did. I am expecting that I will probably end between 15-25. My friend who didnt have MS is at 23 weeks and is already plus 30.

Re: Morning sickness and weight gain
I had no morning sickness and gained very little in the begining. Then the weight gain picked up pace and now it seems to have slowed down a little (thank God.) So at 28 weeks I think I'm up 25 pounds.

I had no m/s and I've been gaining pretty steady - I think I put more weight on than I should have (I was up 15lbs at 20 weeks). I attribute it to no m/s and a very healthy appetite

Re: Morning sickness and weight gain
okay, so maybe it is more hereditary. If so, that will be good for me. My mom gained only 20 lbs with me. And my paternal grandmother didn't gain any weight with my dad (she was overweight a bit) and ended up less than her pre-pg weight after Dad was born. She used to joke that the baby took her fat.

I would just eat right. I read some scary news about eating bad and dieting during pregnancy. It can lead to premature babies, low birth weights and mortality. Who would want to do that to their baby. After reading this article I became more concerned in getting the right nutrients then my actual weight. You can probably also tell how you are gaining by what week you are in and what the avg weight gains are. If theres ever a problem your dr will definitely adress it with you.

Re: Morning sickness and weight gain
I had m/s and I was up 25 lbs at 22 weeks. In my first trimester, I could only eat carbs. I gained most of the weight in the beginning.

I really dont get how my body metablolized those carbs during MS. If you only knew how many bagels I ate.... I gained close to nothing right now. I also and I am assuming the rest of the MS people did ABSOLUTELY NO activity except laying on the couch and getting up to hurl. I am definitely going with the genetic route on how much weight gain most girls have.

Re: Morning sickness and weight gain
I had bad 24/7 dizzies until i was 12 weeks. I gained 11 lbs my 1st trimester since the only things that made me feel better or seemed appetizing were bad for me, like french fries, grilled cheese and fried chicken. I normally eat very healthy stuff.
I ate very good the rest of my pg since I gained so much in the beginning and still gained 50 lbs.

I was surprised at the mode my body went into during the first trimester. Nothing but carbs and laying around. It would take me an hour to eat one bagel, so maybe that helped. But I lost weight. Now it is catching up.
