I thought as long as it was within 10 days, you got a refund.

Yes.
They are a GIANT pain in the *** about returns.
You can't return online purchases in the store either.
That's why I stopped getting stuff from them.

Motherhood is annoying that way, understandable, but annoying and not very customer service orientated.
Only exchange within 10 days of purchase with clothes with tags.

If it is a sale item, they do not let you return/exchange at all, but next time you buy a sale item there, tell them it is for a gift for someone & they will give you the 10 days to at least get store credit.

If you buy from motherhood in Macy's it's 30 days to return regardless if it's on sale or not.

The make you intial the receipt to show that they have explained the return policy to you too... They are hardcore about it....
The thing is - it makes sense... people's bodies are always changing when they are pregnant, so what may fit one week may not fit the next week, plus, pregnancy is so temporary, people may feel - I'll return this after I wear it a few times, b/c I'll never wear it again - maternity stores would NEVER make money if they always gave refunds....

They are so annoying with refunds!!
But, I went to the one in the source yesterday with a nightgown my mom had bought for me. She didn't have the receipt but the tags were still on it and the guy there was nice about letting me exchange it for another one that was the same price.
