Mother's Day ideas
Do you have the moms in for some kind of celebration? Make a craft? Just looking for some fresh ideas. How do you celebrate Mother's Day in your classroom?
Just wanted to add we always do a Mother's Day show where the kids sing and recite poems in the cafeteria on risers. Themn we go back to our classrooms and the kids give their moms cards they made, give them their present and read a poem or letter they made for them and have a snack. Just looking for some new ideas.

Re: Mother's Day ideas
maybe have the kids draw a picture of what moms mean to them and then write a little paragraph?
Have them make cards
Make B-Qs of tissue paper flowers

Re: Mother's Day ideas
Last year we did a Mother's Day Tea where we had the moms in the classroom and the kids sang 2 songs and recited a poem for the moms. I decorated the tables with table cloths and at Party City we got the plastic tea cups. We had iced tea and snacks on each table and plants that the kids had planted for their moms. The moms absolutely LOVED it.

I do a tea also. The kids make portraits of their moms (so hysterical), write her a letter and the class sings two mothers day poems. They serve their moms snacks. I tell each mother to bring their favorite mug and I have tea as well. its a great time! They all love it!

What grade do you teach?
I taught K last year, and I collected baby food jars (the larger ones). I took a picture of each student, laminated it, filled the jars with water, put the picture in and put some glitter. Voila...a snowglobe! They went over very well!

Re: Mother's Day ideas
I take pictures of them holding a sign saying "thank you for all you've done" and then make them sepia tone or b&w, develop them, then this year, I'm buying frames from ikea which they will paint and I'll stick the pictures in for them. Last year, I had thank you notes from the moms which was nice.

Re: Mother's Day ideas
We do a Mother's Day Tea and Concert. First, my chorus does a concert with songs dedicated to their moms, then they go out on the patio with their children for tea, cookies and punch.
