mother's day thoughts...is it worth it?
I hate to see that some of you great moms are upset today since your DH's did not participate in the holiday. Its a shame and you guys are great moms who should not feel left out of the celebration.
Then I think of those mourning their moms...then I think of those wishing they were moms...
I sort of wish mother's day would fade away. Father's Day was always a little tough for my little cousin who's dad decided he did not want to be around anymore.
I guess such as life, but I don't like that a day would bring people down.

I do think it's a great idea - to have a day set aside to cherish someone but I've seen so many posts about everyone being hurt by it, I wonder the same thing.
My mom & I were talking about how difficult this day always was for her - as a motherless 10 year old. Then when she became a mom, it was difficult because she had expectations of celebrating it that my dad didn't live up to. She said now she sees it as a day to cherish her kids & her grandkids.
Happy Mother's Day Janice!

I don't mean this to sound rude, but everyone has different feelings about everything, there's no way to make everyone happy all of the time. Just as many people would be upset if there was no Mother's Day as would be happy. You just can't win.

Re: mother's day thoughts...is it worth it?
as a mother to an amazing almost 2 year old who lights up my life and actually made me appreciate the day finally just a little bit I also know the pain of the other side.
For over 20 years, this day being beyond painful and sad for what I never received as a daughter. I now have the bond I craved so much with Bella now, unconditional and incredible love...but it's incredibly bittersweet and very sad to me...
Mother's Day will never be a Hallmark commercial to me, it's a day where I am reminded of what I and all my amazing siblings were robbed of...it's a day where we all put these expectations on it that sometimes just can't be fulfilled (most times, out of our control)
Honestly, all cheese aside, every day is Mother's Day to me now. To have an individual that loves me for one fact, that I am her mother and she is my daughter...someone that looks to me for love and affection and knows I am gonna give it...
I will make it my mission for every SINGLE day for the rest of my life to make sure she knows that mommy not only loves her, adores her, and will do anything for her...but that it's unconditional and limitless...every day.
And with that, mother's day will just be a part of this mission and this amazing journey I am learning about, the one of being a parent...
