I wrapped everything in papertowels and then wrapped newspapers around that.

Me too - some stuff I just used newspapers. On the really good stuff I used my towels.

Newspaper, then when I put the stuff in boxes I packed additional newspaper into the gaps so the stuff would not move around.

Re: moving/packing ?
We bought a few specialty boxes from Uhaul, particularly the dish pack and the glass pack boxes. They were definitely worth the money.
I think 4 kits cost us about $25.

Re: moving/packing ?
I would try to buy bubble wrap online in bulk. You will probably pay a LOT less.
When I try to buy bubble wrap at retail stores... it seems very expensive to me.

Re: moving/packing ?
Plates I put in a small box that they can't really move arond in and stack them with a few paper plates in between. They were just going from our apt to the car and then the car to the house so I didn't feel the need to buy bubble wrap.
Coffe cups and glasses we did with paper towels and then newspaper.
And I used t shirts and sweatshirts as padding in a lot of boxes, so that I got more of my stuff out and padded breakables.

Re: moving/packing ?
I bought a bunch of bubble wrap online. When the dishes were done, I had a lot left over so I wrapped pictures and anything else I could find up in it. I didn't want to go the newspaper route because I didn't want to deal with the ink.

Re: moving/packing ?
I used bubble wrap to keep the dishes/cups etc from bagging together, then used my bath towels for cushioning. Kills 2 birds with one stone!

I had professinal packers come and pack my home(my husband's office paid), and this is exactly what they did.

Re: moving/packing ?
I picked up boxes at bed bath and beyond. they come in various sizes and arent really that expensive. The most I paid for a box was 2 dollars. we are moving a little bit at a time so I would just unload the boxes and reuse them.
You can also go to a store like the local deli, PC richards, or circuit city and ask them if they have any boxes they are throwing out and take them free of charge.

Re: moving/packing ?
I bought boxes at Staples and at a Storage Place...you really can't reuse them, except maybe for storage, but what are you going to do? As far as packing, we bought a 100' roll of bubble wrap at Staples and are packing newspaper around it and we are putting our glasses in liqour cartons that we absconded from the local liqour store so they have the cardboard seperators.
