Moving with nowhere to go - VENT!!
So we have a buyer (I think), they put all of these crazy things in the contract and I'm fuming mad. That could be a different post and might be.....
They have to close on a certain date because they are getting married and are having house guests. How you can have house guests before you own a house is beyond me but....plus the title hasn't even been ordered. We wanted to be able to stay in the house maybe a week (which we accomidated our seller on when we moved in). Really we'll probably need two-three days but....they said no way. But, they want to get estimates to get the floors door while I still live there and even had the gaul to ask me to rip up my rugs in the bedrooms because she's allergic.
Sorry I keep boucing back and forth.
DH won't stay with anyone and wants me to pull the deal and find buyers that are a little more accomidating (I see both sides). He refused to move twice and put stuff in storage. He's not making it easy. I am trying to accomidate everyone here and it's just not possible. So, I'm trying to find another house but no luck. Buyer's market my butt. Worst case senario we have to rent but....that's an issue as well (with DH).
I'm just feeling really anxious about the whole thing and almost makes me not want to move.
Sorry so long. Thanks for reading.

You should look into a POD then you can pack everything up once and move it to your new house when your ready.

The buyers sound unrealisitc. What happens if you don't close on the exact date they want to close? Will they send the houseguests to you anyway?
Can you buy first, then sell?

This is a tough one... its hard to find a buyer in this market, you don't want to give up so fast on the one you have... You don't have to agree to everything they put in the contract. If you can't be out by a closing date, then tell them. By no means are you ripping up rugs, that should be their responsibility when they move in. If they want to measure, I would let them to that.
The lease on our apt. ran out at the end of Jan while we were still searching for a house. We put our things in storage and am living with my parents right now. Its not the ideal situation, but honestly hasn't been that bad. It also gives us flexibility for when we close on a house, we don't need to move in right away, we can take our time and do things at our own pace in terms of renovations, etc.

Re: Moving with nowhere to go - VENT!!
First, I am sorry to hear you are going through such trouble. Buyers have become much more demanding these days--they never would have pulled this a couple years ago (or if they did you could just dump them and get another buyer quicklY).
What does your attorney say about this? Usually people have a few extra days beyond the closing date to vacate a home, or maybe that was just the way our contract was worded.
You could also pay them for the few extra days. My parents did that--they bought a newly constructed home which wasn't quite ready yet and rather than put everything is storage for a week, they paid their buyers a sum for the extra time they stayed. I'm not sure how the dollar amount was arrived upon.
Hope you can work something out!

Re: Moving with nowhere to go - VENT!!
This sounds like my deal to a tee!!!!
We sold our house March 15th and our new buyers were in that same day. Our new house won't be ready till the end of JUNE!!!!! So we put our entire house in storage for 3 months and are renting an overpriced furnished apartment until we can move in.
We went through 3 buyers and knew that we could not let this deal fall through. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
Good Luck!!

I would not let them rip your rugs out or anything. God forbid the deal falls through. JMO.

I agree with Lauren. Good luck!

Re: Moving with nowhere to go - VENT!!
Aren't closing dates "on or about" a certain date that usually gives you a window of 30 days? Our closing date was on or about April 5th, but we are not closing until next week. I don't know about planning for house guests...

Re: Moving with nowhere to go - VENT!!
Thanks eveyone. Unfortunately we can't afford to close on a new home first plus in this market. I could never carry two mortgages.
I would prefer to put stuff in PODS and live with the inlaws but DH.....
I know it will all work out somehow but believe me - I like my rugs and they are staying on the floors.
I really liked the comment about the house guests staying with us....
I;m liooking to buy and would never ask such things. People are unreal.
