My aunt had a house built there about 5 years ago..great twon, seems low of things like crime, good schools but like others said, HIGH taxes...

I've noticed the taxes... grrrr...
We saw some things (online) north of 25a...I grew up around Port Jeff - but haven't been back (outside of hanging out down Port) in years.

Mt. Sinai is great... if you head a bit more east... Sound Beach, Rocky Point, the taxes are much more reasonable and it is only 3 minutes down the road!!

We are in the process of going to contract on a house in Sound beach and I could not be happier. The taxes are low and it is a great neighborhood. I was looking in Rocky point as well and the property is so hilly and the taxes range from high to low. I am thrilled that my child will be going to miller place school district.

I grew up in Miller Place and my DH grew up in Rocky Point. If he didn't have to commute to the city we definitely would have returned to the area. Mount Sinai is a really good district too.

we live in pt jeff sta b/c the taxes were less than mt sinai and its still closeby. it is nice there!
