MTHFR girls question
I know some of you go to a hemotologist as wellas a ob/gyn for your pregnancies.
I go to a high risk dr who was attached to the office of my RE as well as an OB/GYN- they have been treating me for MTHFR .
My question is, after your pregnancy do you plan on seeing a hemotologist for this condition as a precautionary for the future?
I feel pretty content that things are being dealt with now but what is your opinion now that you are aware that you have this condition?
Thanks for any responses

Re: MTHFR girls question
I am not preggo yet. But I am meeting with my regualr ob/gyn and a high risk ob who actually has MTHFR herself.
She basically told me that after birth I really dont need to be all the concerned about it. But that I may want to have my levels checked reguarly. I will have to ask her about seeing a hemotologist in the future. Good luck

Not PG YET but you are supposed to be on the Lovenox for 6-8 weeks after birth. This is the boggest danger time for clots or deep vein thrombosis. Make sure your doc has this set up for you. Also you should take Metanx or Folgard every day for the rest of your life. This will help to keep your FA being processed and lessen your risk of cardiovascular disease(MTHFR increases your chances of cardiovascular problems) Also have your homcysteine checked every 6 mos to a yr and make sure its in range(below 10)

Thank you Melijane, I am not on Folgard or Metanx @ present time. Do you think I should ask?

Re: MTHFR girls question
I plan to go back onto Lovenox for 6 weeks after birth and then I will take folic acid every day for the rest of my life....once I get pregnant again, I will go back on the Lovenox.

Re: MTHFR girls question
I haven't seen a hematologist and my RE wanted me on Lovenox just for the first trimester.
I see only a high-risk OB and he says of all his high-risk patients, I am the lowest.
I wonder if there are degrees of severity as neither my RE nor my OB seem to think it is much of an issue...

My hematologist seemed to think putting me on lovenox was an aggressive but reasonable route so we went with that

yes metanx is supposedly better because it has a form of FA that is already broken down and your b vitamins in one pill. Its small too
