Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
I am 23.5 weeks now! Its going by so fast! I gained 20 lbs so far which is less than I gained with my first son at this point. I am feeling very achy and tired. I feel more like 33 weeks pregnant than 23. Work is getting rough and carrying my 30+ lb. toddler is painful.
I had my consult today with the high risk dr. to go over VBAC with twins. As of right now, he strongly recommends NOT attempting VBAC since Baby A is breech and B is transverse. (However there is still time for them to turn). We went over all of the possible scenarios and he recommends a repeat c-section for the least risk for both me and the babies. Obviously I want what is best for me and the babies so I will go along with his and my midwives recommendations.
I haven't posted about this online before, but we have a slight concern with Baby B (boy). Baby B has a 2-vessel umbilical cord instead of the normal 3 vessel. I am so happy to say that all of the testing - renal examination and fetal echocardiogram, bloodwork, and anatomy scan- we did on Baby B has come back as completely normal! I am still going to be seen every 2 weeks from now on because his growth will have to be monitored... the 2 vessel cord could result in decreased growth PLUS that fact that he is a twin could also result in a smaller baby. It is strange to think I am going to have a tiny baby (or should I say 2 tiny babies) when my first was 9 lbs and off the charts for his first year. It is going to be so different. My son was never "delicate", KWIM?

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
great idea! glad to hear you're doing well!
I am only 11 weeks but i have already but on 7 lbs! I was tiny to begin with, so it doesn't look like i have gained any weight, but my pants are definitely too tight around the waist and i already moved up a size! I am barely showing though - hopefully i start to show soon!
I am nauseous all the time and exhausted always. i am hoping that this sickness goes away within the next few weeks! but it's all for a good cause so i keep telling myself to not get too upset
i have my NT scan on May 4 (day after my 30th bday!) and i cannot wait. hopefully everything will go well and i can come out to everyone at work.
i know i have a long way to go but i am starting to get excited to soon be out of the first trimester and to be able to relax a little bit!
hope everyone else is doing well!

Great Post, glad to hear you ladies are doing well!!
I'm 24 weeks 5 days along. Had cerlcage put in over a month ago been out of work since, I'm going back monday on a trial to see how it works out. I would like to work through end of May b/c i want to take 6 months off after the babies are here but we'll see if my body agrees to that... The girls are doing good, constantly moving around. I go next week for a growth sono. I put on about 26 pounds so far, all belly and boob so hoping I stay like that.

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
This is a nice idea, thanks Julz! -Happy to hear that all is ok with your boy and I hope it continues to be that way!
-Me, 28wks right now. Weight gain has been 24lbs so far....what I gained with my dd my entire pregnancy! So this is a tad hard for me
I cant tie my shoes, bend over much, see below my stomach and its hard to walk long periods of time, sitting is even a prob, hard to pick up my 30lb DD as well. I get winded quickly and by end of day, I feel like I rode a horse all day and my body ACHES! Sleep dosent come easy either. Im up most of nite, up to pee and uncomfortable. I feel like im 39wks pg! I also had it REAL good with my DD, so this is ALL very hard for me, again. I guess I shouldn't complain since overall, there have been no healthy problems at all, all tests are great and babies are right on track doing very well. Lets hope it stays that way!
Both babies are head down, and Im electing a c-section. I am scared of that since i did have my DD vaginally with no drugs and doc feels Im a good candidate to do it again, even with twins. Hard for me since Im still confused on what is right. I will be also having my tubes tied after c-section since I am done having children and will not be turning back. Still up for discussion with doc, on what will happen.

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
Hi Ladies, I must agree great post idea.
I am exactly 30 weeks pregnant and I have gained at least 28 pounds, mainly in my belly boobs and butt. People can't believe how well I am carrying and I am still able to shop,do laudry and work. Baby A is heads down- and always have been, Baby B is breached.
I haven't really discussed w/ my doctor how I am going to deliver, I'll probably opt for c-section. My due date is July 7, but I'll probably go mid-late June.
Currently we are in the process of selling our coop and moving in with my mom. Based on all the PP I've read, I am very HAPPY that my mom will be giving us a hand.
I plan on taking about one year off from work.
I couldn't have wished for a better pregancy- no sickness, acne, cravings, body aches, etc.
Take care girls!

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
Great thread!
I'm 32 weeks pregnant. I've gained 35 pounds so far, which is what I had gained when DD was born. I'm carrying well, but it's been weeks and weeks since I could see my feet. I have basically 2 more weeks of work then I'm on leave until the end of January!
I had a super easy pregnancy with DD, so this is a change for me. It started getting tough at week 23 - now I'm feeling pressure 'down there' all the time and my stomach feels as if it can't possibly stretch any more.
Only a few weeks to go - it will all be worth it in the end!

A new update from today!
I had a sono to check my cervix and it looked great! So relieved since I;ve been crampy!
Also had growth measured on the babies. I was worried b/c of 2 vessel cord... well both babies are measuring 1 lb 7 oz! And both measuring 24 weeks which is exactly what I am! YAY!

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
I'm almost 23 weeks with identical twin . So far I really haven't gained too much. Only about 3 lbs but i really feel big for some reason! I lost 4 lbs in the first trimester from being sick so I guess its almost like i've gained more? At 20 weeks the babies were 11 and 13 oz so from what I've read it's within range so I'm thinking thats a good sign? I know that everyone gains at different rates but sometimes i worry its not enough (though the OB doesn't want me to gain more than 20).
I'm trying my best to take things one day at a time though i worry constantly.

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
Update on me:
29wks today
had an appt last nite- All is well! Real well. Cervix is where needs to be. Babies on track, weighing in at 3lbs on one, the other is a little under, 2.8. So that means Im holding almost 6lbs of baby already!
One baby decided to move and is now transverse. no longer are both head down, well one is. One is officially stuck in my rib, proved it at sono. It kills me and major discomfort.
It looks like we are headed for a date of July 5th since Im doing a c-section.
Of course that can change if I go on my own but for now, it seems to be the date and I will be 38wks.

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
I am 25wks and just had a sono and dr. appointment today. Both babies look great and are measuring at 1lb5oz and 1lb10oz....I am so happy they are both growing well!! My cervix looks good and is nice and long....that made me feel better about the crampiness I have been feeling. Both babies are transverse, but they are starting to turn head down.
I am doing pretty well...my BP is great and I have been packing on the lbs....24 already!!! Ahhh! Luckily, it has been mostly in my belly and boobs I had my glucose test today and have my fingers crossed for the results.
Glad everyone is doing welll!!!

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
I am 33 weeks. I was doing fine until 32 weeks----still working FT w/ a torturous commute into Brooklyn everydaty.
Then BAM.
I went for a growth sono and one of the babies wasn't growing. They almost did a c-section that day. (I posted about this so sorry if some of u r reading for the 2nd time.)
I've gone back 2X and they don't seem nearly as worried. I have to get sonos 2X a week for the rest of the pregnancy. I have been having some pretty bad contractions for the past 3 days but the dr said not to worry unless they get to be 10 min apart. My dr still thinks I will deliver in the next 2 weeks. The nursery is ready. My bag is packed. Meeting ped tonight. I am working from home now which is awesome. Every morning DH asks, "Do u think we'll be parents today?" So cute!
I am starting to freak out about having a c-section. I am not the type to lay in bed and the thought of not being able to do much for 2-3 weeks = torture.
I think in some ways it still hasn't set in about how much our life is about to change. It's exciting and scary at the same time!

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
I am 31 weeks as of yesterday.
I've left work as of 4/30/10. So I am confined to my house which is a good thing because we are selling our COOP and moving in with my Mom in another 3/4 weeks or so. I have been packing up pictures and getting necessary paperwork in order, etc.
At the dr appt this week- he said I haven't gained any weight- so its been a total of 34 pounds, my blood pressure is 108/64 and the h/b for baby A is 144 and Baby B is 148. He's very happy how things are going and is suggestng a vaginal birth- baby A is always vertex, although Baby B isn't. He keeps saying lets see how things progress. I go to LIJ in another 10 days for sono and to see a peri- lets see how the peanuts are growing, so far they are the same weight.
Overall I have had a great pregnancy!

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
great thread idea-i hadnt seen it before! so glad to hear that all my fellow multiple mommies are doing so well!!!!!!
i have been posting frequently on the PG board, so i dont want to bore you all with my repeated complaining , but quick update on me: i will be 31 weeks on monday. i get a growth sono on tues, but as of 2 weeks ago, Baby A measured 2.5 oz, and Baby B measured 2.10 oz. I get bi-weekly dopplers to check their blood flow (since they share a placenta) and thankfully that has been looking great!! My cervix is the biggest concern since its barely there and the cerclage is the only thing holding them in. I had my steroids 2 weeks ago to develop their lungs in case I go early. My dr is hoping I can make it to 34 weeks...anything after that does not look likely at this point. But I am still praying for a miracle! At 30 weeks, I have gained 37 lbs , but my Drs are not concerned bc I have GD and have been on strict bed rest for the past 14 weeks. I was bound to put on more weight than normal since I hardly move around.
ETA: I also opted for a c/s. My dr said a VBAC was a possibility if I went full-term (with is very unlikely anyway) since Baby A is in position (literally resting on my cervix - OW), but bc Baby B is transverse there is a possibility he may not turn head down so I could always end up with a VBAC and a c/s - NO THANK YOU!!!!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE. Cant wait to hear more updates!

Update on me:
I'm 33 weeks, 5 days. Babies are measuring 4.9 and 4.14! My doctor scheduled my c section for June 10th (38 weeks, 1 day) but I really dont see how I'll make it to then - or else I'll deliver 7 pound babies!
I also just found out that my father (who is an identical twin) and his brother were: 6.6 and 7.2 at birth. My poor grandmother!!!!!!
Tomorrow is my last day of classes - no more commute to campus!

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
Hi, 31wks- Appt yesterday.
Baby B- still head down Baby A- head up, no change.
Doc is still unsure whether he will flip so with that, its a c-section for me and pretty much decided for me.
All looks great. Cervix closed and long, babies measuring 4lbs and 3.5lbs (sounds really big to me already).
They were being really stubborn and not showing their faces at all so I got no SONO pics this time around. One just felt the need to show his "GOODS" a lot, LOL
I will see my doc now every 2wks.
My c-sec is scheduled for July 6th.

Re: Multiple Pregnancy updates! (Add yours)
Just had a sono to check cervix and babies growth (27 weeks). My cervix is closed and long - which is great because I was having contractions last week. Baby Girl is measuring almost a full 2 weeks ahead! She was 2 lbs 8 oz. Baby Boy measuring a little bigger at 2 lbs 3 oz.
