Music together with a 6 month old?
DS LOVES music but I don't know how well he will sit for a class. Has anyone brought their 6 month old to a music class? Do they like it? Is it worth it?

I used to bring DD#1 to a music class at the library and she loved it! That being said, the class only lasted about 30-45 mins. which I think is enough stimulation for that age group. HTH!

I started music together with DS when he was 5 months old...he was fine. It was only 45 mins which was long enough.

I did it with DD at 9 months and while she did enjoy it, looking back, I wish that I had waited a little bit longer. The class is expensive and I wish that I had taken more advantage of the library/town programs instead.

We'll be around in August and would love to go to one!!!
It starts thursday so I just have to convince DH that the money is worth it haha but its in Long Beach so I'll definitely let you know! I hear there are good classes at the library also that im going to try to check out (I have no clue that schedule though)

My DS started music together when he was 5 months old, and has gone ever since (he's 17 months now). We're taking off for the summer, but will start back again in Septempber. He enjoyed it then, and it's been so terrific to see his growth in the class. He started off as a quiet but happy observer, and now he participates!

Ethan is 6 months old and has been going since he was 4 months old. He LOVES LOVES LOVES it now and particpates much more than in the begining. I suggest it, but would probably wait until 6 months with the 2nd one (someday).

I just finished MT class with DD and she just turned 2. I am glad I waited. She, as with most little ones, always loved music and dancing..but so glad I waited until she was older. She claps and sings along. I feel the little ones just kinda soak it all in but don't get the same stimulation as the older 1+ crowd.

I started DD#1 at 7 months and she LOVED it - she loved banging on the drums, shaking the eggs and the maracas etc. She would clap with the songs and make ahhhh sounds with the music like she was singing. They give you cds of the music so the children know the songs if you play them at home.

Definitely! DS is almost 5 months and we went to a demo class at 4 months and he loved it! I'm planning to do it in the fall, or something like it, when he's about 6/7 months.

I forgot to mention about the CDs. We would listen to them in the car, and he recognized the songs. To this day, if he gets cranky in the car, all I have to do is turn on the CD and he's all better. The songs also helped to keep him looking and smiliing during photo shoots lol

I just went to our first class on Monday with my 6 month old and I thought it was great! He was the youngest one there, but there was a 7 month old and a 9 month old. I think that at the very least, they get lots of great stimulation and they hear the rhythm and music. They gave us 2 CDs, a song book, and a book with a lot of information about the program and the philosophy behind it. I definitely think its worth it!
