Must-Haves When Getting a New Puppy - Help!
Hi everyone!
My husband and I will be getting our toy schnauzer (he may be more of a teacup though) within the next month. Can you help me with a list of things we should have on hand for him? I understand we'll need a crate, doggy bed, bowls for food/water and other necessities (food) that I would appreciate you naming...Also, anything we should have on hand for emergencies, like stain remover if he has some accidents or certain sprays that keep the puppies from chewing on furniture (or is that not good)?
I really appreciate any help you can offer, thank you!

Don't forget a leash and collar! You'll also probably need a grooming brush and nail trimmers if you plan to do it yourself. The earlier you can get him used to it, the better! Definitely some spot remover for carpets if you have any, though I have no recs- we're all wood floors here! And you should probably just go ahead and invest in a lint brush or 10. Also, get some chew toys since he's a baby and he'll be teething. Congrats!

Lots of chew toys, doggie shampoo, toothbrush, doggie toothpaste (good to get them used to it early), brush, small treats for training, maybe a pooper scooper, leash, collar. There is probably more but that's what I could think of off the top of my head. Enjoy your pup!

You have most of it down. you'll definitely also need a brush for his/her legs and beard. They tend to get matted so get him used to it early on. Schnauzer puppies are paper shredders (minis anyway) we had to make sure nothing paper was in his reach.
I also had good luck with bitter apple spray. It's harmless, they just hate the smell and he wouldn't even get close to where we sprayed it. This was SO useful when we needed to keep him off of the rugs while we were adjusting his crate training schedule and would give him more free roam.
Good luck and Congratulations on the new pup!
