My 15 month old is hitting.....Me!
Thankfully I have never seen her hit another child but lately if I tell her not to touch something or "no"....she smacks my leg. Then, because she knows it's bad, she smacks the sofa or anything near her.
Why all of a sudden? This IS just a phase, right?
What is the best way to handle this? TIA!

Just a phase, I would tell miki "no hitting" and if she continued, that was one of the few reasons I put her in time out

I'm hoping it's a phase too...DD has been doing this for the last few weeks....it's *seems* to be calming down a bit now.
But the more we said "no" the more she hit.
She's 19 months

My DS did the same thing, But once he learned he could not hit me he would do what I called a "air hit" he would swing but purposely miss me. I would put him in time out...but he knew NOT to make contact...sometimes I feel they are smarter than us

Went through this with DS.
We taught him "Nice touches".
He takes his hand and slowly rubs the couch, my hand, whatever he's hitting.

DS did that too at 15 months. He would hit me in the face. I put a stop to that by telling him , STRONGLY, "do not hit mommy". Sometimes he does it still but heknows I dont tolerate it.

mine does now and then too.....i firmly hold his hand and tell him no! Do nice to mommy.....not sure if he gets it though.....
