my 9 mos old hates lumpy foods. I need menu suggestions--I feel like I am SO behind!
I say maybeamommy's post last week. My kid is still exlusively on baby food w the exception of pastina and puffs.
Have you gotten ride of baby food altogether? How do I introduce these new foods? What can I make him that stores well for the week?
Help

Can you make the purees gradually thicker with oatmeal or multigrain cereal? Thats what worked for my DS and he's all on table food now. Try pieces of bread, cheese... I'll keep thinking for you.

How small are you cutting these? Are you exclusively on table foods now????
how did you make this transition?

Yeah, he's on all table food now. I do still give him oatmeal with a fruit puree once in a while when I'm lazy and didnt cook yet. I cut everything really small, cheerio size. Once he was able to chew a cheerio really well thats when I moved onto other things.
He liked bread early, like 6-7 months, so then I made him pancakes, then french toast, then grilled cheese. He likes dark meat chicken bc its soft so then I tried other meats too. I just made a list of ideas for me to make for him so I have something to refer to when I'm too in the moment to think. Do you want to see the list?

I give DS almost all organic. I try to give him vegetables at lunch or dinner or both. At lunch I include a fruit too.
breakfast:
oatmeal w/ fruit puree egg yolk (w/ cheese sometimes) french toast waffles pancakes (I dip all those in a fruit puree for flavor)
lunch:
any breakfast leftover dinner grilled cheese yogurt w/ multigrain cereal to make it thicker cream cheese w/ fruit puree sandwich coldcuts (I have to get the applegate farms, organic brand. I havent done thise yet)
dinner:
chicken beef meatballs/meatloaf cheeseburger eggplant parm pastina (sometimes mixed w/ cheese) pork sausage pasta w/ sauce
snacks:
cheerios cheese cut up fruit bread

DS is almost 10 mos and he actually is refusing almost all baby food (except fruit/cereal combos and veggies) and wants only textured table foods. I try to do mostly organic as well.
1st breakfast: he will eat: a piece of whole wheat toast or mini waffles 1-2 slices cheddar/monterey jack cheese An ella organice fruit puree or homemade applesauce, banana, etc
2nd breakfast (he's like a hobbit):
A fruit/cereal puree of some sort cheerios
Lunch:
a pureed veg or steamed veggies and pasta veggie puffs
Dinner: (one or two of these) pieces of poached chicken macaroni & cheese pureed homemade soup Earths best turkey cranberry or apple chicken bolognese sauce
plus a yobaby yogurt

Re: my 9 mos old hates lumpy foods. I need menu suggestions--I feel like I am SO behind!
I wouldn't feel behind..your damned if you do, and your damned if you don't. I have people who think its crazy that DS has been off purees, cereal and jars since for a while..so I feel like I am wrong..lol..
I found that he was able to handle the thicker purees that I would make, by gradually making it a little thicker. Like mashed sweet potatoes were a good place to start. At first, i would add a little water, maybe a touch of butter...see how he did...then add a little less water, see how he did, etc...
Soups were another great start. Chicken and stars is his favorite. As longs as the chunk of food was soft, I started there. I was actually late in the whole cheerio thing, because I was terrified he would choke... banannas, carrots, that are steamed, then I made it up to pancakes, waffles, etc...
I am having a hard time thinking of other foods, but I will try...lol...
Don't feel behind!!!!!
