My AI Conspiracy Theory
After watching the people that got into the top 24 last night, I think something is up.
They put through some people that were barely mediocre talent-wise over some that were clearly better singers. I saw some people during the auditions that were better than some of these people that got into the top 24 last night. What is up with that?
Here's what I think:
I think they already have their top 3 or 4 in mind. So now they had to pick people that were only so-so singers, yet likeable, so that America will gradually vote them off, leaving the people they want to win. 
Perfect example: Marissa vs Antonella at the end. Marissa did FAR better than Antonella in the Hollywood round. The girl forgot the lyrics and we all know people have gotten thrown off just for that. But they like her look. Yes, Antonella can sing, but she's got the look they are after it seems.
Sundance vs that other guy - Sundance was CLEARLY not the better singer there. But he's likeable enough to hang around for a couple of weeks and then easily get voted off. Again, leaving whoever it is they want to win.
It also seems that they really want a girl to win it this year because the guys they put through are only so-so.
Thoughts?

I so agree with you!! I was so pizzed that they kept Antonella when she totally forget some of her words and also that Sundance guy. What is the point of Simon saying that if anyone should forget the words to a song they are going home.

I am also seeing that - it seems that there are a select few that come through based on talent, but many come through due to personality. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I feel like many people that are overly cocky and full of themselves didn't really make it through this time . . . .

I totally agree. I feel that 70 % of the people who made it through were sub-standard, particularly in relation to some who did not make it through.

i agree as well. when they put some of those people thru to the top 24, i was sitting there saying "what are they nuts?".

I agree too. At least four times last night, I was shocked at their choices. Simon is always saying things about people's looks, and that it counts towards the whole package. So it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that was 1/3 of the deciding factor (or more).
Don't forget, the brunette who is staying is part of the two girls who started some drama with Bailey Brown. That could be another factor in her staying - the potential for some backstage drama.
I was so sad for Bailey, that she choked like she did. She didn't even try to continue, she just stopped singing.

I totally agree!  Nicole, Amy, and Leslie Are you serious??? They didnt have an ounce of talent compared to Marissa!!! I was really peeved last night!

But she also went to bed instead of staying up and learning the lyrics, so I have less sympathy for her.
I got the feeling she thought she didn't need to try as hard because they liked her so much at the first auditions.
I agree with the conspiracy theory.
I was a little shocked at how many of the top 24 we were seeing for the first time.
