My Awesome 80's Bathroom... *NOT SO MUCH!* HELP!

This bathroom isn't terrible and is in good working condition.. unfortunately.. its black and white.. no color. I want to update this bathroom.. I'd honestly LOVE to put new neutral tiles on the floor, paint it a slate blue with olive green accents... but that leaves black sink and toilet and black and white floors... any ideas until we can afford a total overhaul?! (last pic is of the wainscot ceiling that is almost pink...)

TIA

I do not think it looks too bad.

1. I would do is take down the wallpaper. Then find a color you like and paint it.

2. Buy new hardware for the cabinets

3. Buy new light fixture.

I really feel like this would transform the room enough while you are waiting to redo it without breaking the bank.

If you're going to do it, you should just go for the toilet and sink. I always see them for semi-decent prices at home depot. We looked at a pedestal sink for $100 there.

That leaves the floor.. With a floor like this.. do you pick up the tiles or just do tiling over it? If we are taking out the sink and toilet... may as well put the tiles down.. KWIM?

The ceiling makes me nervous with the pink tinge... like a bleached oak type...

I agree take down the wallpaper, get a new vanity sink, and just paint.. Think it would look nice fresh and updated

The ceiling you can just paint white, maybe prime over it first. Take the wallpaper down. If you will leave the toilet and sink for now, you could always just put down vinyl floor for right now (some of them look real now a days) and make it neutral. Than you could paint the walls a tan or beige and put some red accents in there and your done. HTH!

ITA.

Also, if you can, get a new mirror. I'm not sure if that's a medicine cabinet or not but if it's not, it would be pretty easy to find a replacement.

I should show you my bathroom! It's black and white too. It has black glossy tiles halfway up all the walls and in the shower. It feels a cavern. We are going to take down the white/black wallpaper soon and paint it a color to break it up. Seriously, yours has more potential than ours!

YUP! as PPs have said, remove the wallpaper, remove the vanity and paint ceiling and walls - - VOILA! you will have a new bathroom, on the cheap!!!

i would keep the flooring. if you change that, you'd have to change the john.

i googled black toilet decorating ideas and found these. they may help inspire you:

idea 1

idea 2

idea 3 - black vanity

check this out

OK, how about wainscotting up 1/2 to 3/4 of the wall (white) then a color like this on the upper portion:
inspiration color (not the whole bathroom.. kinda yucky)
