My baby is sad....

Since my milk supply seems to be decreasing, and it seems as if I am producing more blood than milk lately, he has been getting ALOT more formula supplements than usual..

He orginally started getting fussy an hour after he would eat...I at first thought he was still hungry, and would give him some more food... then I started to offer him about a 1/2 an ounce more at each feeding hoping to eliminate that hour later "snack"...

Sure enough he took it, but was still getting fussy at that one hour later point... I truely feel its gas related..I tried mylicon drops last night...and then we went to bed, and had a dedcent night..however this morning I gave them to him again, and we are still fussy...

He has no fever, and is only half way happy when Im holding him standing up...what could this be? Do I need to call the DR.? TIA

Re: My baby is sad....

When we were switching over from mostly formula to mostly breast milk a few days after coming home from the hospital Emily went through the same thing. She seemed very fussy/gassy and only wanted to be held. I think it was because her system had to get used to the different type of food. It digests differently, and even though she waso nly a few days old it was a big change for her body.

I'd give it a few more days and see if he starts feeling better.

Re: My baby is sad....

We have this after EVERY feeding... I talked to the pediatrician about it. He told me it's because she's growing so fast and eating so much that her little digestive system can't keep up. There's isn't much I can do about it other than hold and rock her for about 30 minutes after each feeding until she calms down...
