My baby's having surgery today... so worried!
My 3.5 year old mixed terrier is our LOVE! She hurt her knee about two weeks ago trying to jump onto our bed (which she does everyday, but we found out from xrays that she has bilateral hip dysplasia which has been causing pressure on her knees, so finally one gave out).
So she's having surgery to fix her knee today (torn ligament and possibly some tendon and knee cap work) and if the orthopedist deems it necessary, he'll be fixing one of her hips as well!  That would entail either a hip bone replacement, or just shaving of the socket and the bone so that they fit better together. It all depends on what he sees when he examines her.
DH dropped her off at the vet already and we don't even get to meet the specialist who will be doing the surgery. I'm SO worried. DH says she'll be fine and I'm sure she will, but I'm still really worried - I hope everything turns out ok and I just hope she's not in too much pain afterwards!!!
Sorry for the long post, but I needed to get it out. She's the SWEEEEEEETEST doggie who acts like our child (and we treat her that way), so to see her in pain breaks my heart.

aww my dog had a major surgery a few years back and I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. Lots of prayers that everything works out, but I'm sure your baby will be fine

THANKS so much everyone.
The vet just called and the specialist will be operating on her hip as well.  I'm kinda "happy" because then at least hopefully this means she won't need it later on when she's older, but I'm also worried because I hope she doesn't have complications and what if she can't walk normally afterwards??
relax.relate.release.... I'm sure she'll be fine!

I know how hard it is!
When I brought my baby to be fixed I was a basket case all day!
Just know that she will be on the mend before you know it!!

You can't help worrying but, she will be fine and back in your arms again.

DH just called - she's out of surgery and did well!!  My poor baby - she'll be there until tomorrow so they can give her pain meds and then she'll have to heal and have therapy.
I can't wait to see her and give her kisses!!!!!!!!!!!!

She will be fine. I know how you feel, my little one had almost the same surgery when she was 8 months old and I was so worried and afterwards she was a little weak, but by the next day she was up and jumping around as normal, even with her stitches.

She's coming home today! I'm leaving work in a little bit to head home and pick her up. The vet's office said they had to hand feed her, but they were able to take her out for a short walk!!!! I'm so proud of her! Knee and hip surgery and she was still able to walk and put a bit of pressure on that leg!
She's on morphine right now, so I hope when she comes home she won't have too much pain!
