My Birth Story!
Here is the birth story of my  :
Tuesday, 5/13, 38 weeks 1 day: I was 1cm dilated and 80% effaced. My OB stripped my membranes.
Wednesday, 5/14: I lost my mucus plug in the morning, contractions started at night then stopped a little after midnight.
Thursday, 5/15: felt awful all day, stomach issues and just sick and cramps on and off all day.
Friday, 5/16: Had non-stress test and internal, 2cm dilated and 90% effaced.
Tuesday, 5/20, 39 Weeks 1 Day: 3cm dilated, 100% effaced, had some cramping that night.
Wednesday, 5/21: Cramps all day that were really bad. I have endometriosis and am used to bad cramps so I thought this was bad but couldn't be contractions. (Found out later when on the monitor that they in fact were contractions!). Starting timing them at 10:30pm when they got extremely bad and thought they were 5-7 minutes apart. Water started leaking around midnight.
Thursday, 5/22, 39 Weeks 3 Days: Called the OB and they said to go to hospital. I showered and took my time. When I got there around 1/1:30 am I found out my contractions (which I still thought were 5-7 minutes apart) were actually 1 1/2 - 3 minutes apart with periods of three in a row with no break in between! All those "cramps" were contractions and I was only counting the REALLY bad ones! So, I had been contracting all day I guess! They also confirmed that my water did break. I was checked in and in the labor and delivery room by 2:30am. I kept declining the epidural because I didn't want to be stuck in the bed (my hospital doesn't offer a walking epidural). I was having 4-5 contractions on top of each other with no break and they were pretty painful. At 4am the nurse said my OB really wanted me to get the epi because they feared with the contractions on top of each other I wasn't going to be able to get one when it was time to push because I wouldn't be able to sit still for it. So, I got it at 4am. At 5:30 they did the first internal and I was at 5cm. At 6:45 they did the next and I was at 9cm. I had let the epi wear off, never pushing the buttom for a little more because I didn't like the numb feeling. They said I could push it after 1.5 hours which would have been 5:30am. At 7:45, my OB made my DH push the button to give me some more and at 8am I started pushing. I delivered my daughter at 9:20 AM. I had only slight tearing so they did not do an episiotomy. They stiched me up and said it was minimal tearing and didn't go through all layers like an episiotomy would. It was an amazing experience! I love my baby so much!! Here are some pictures....
