My boss figured out a way to get me let go
so it happened. my crazy boss that was making me miserable figured out a way to get me laid off. After a year of her fighting to get my position created and then nearly a year (I was there 11 months) of being told how happy she is to have another person, she managed to talk the higher ups into hiring a pr agency instead of keeping me. I'm so shocked that she had the power to convince them. And what I find so funny is that my boss - with NO prior pr experience - is not only the director of pr but she's been tasked with hiring an agency, which she knows nothing about. it's such b. s. due to the company's system of firing, i wasn't eligible for that. i would've had to steal money or something for that. she couldn't blame it on my job performance b/c she lost credibility w/HR and everyone has been telling both of us - right up to her boss and another VP - that I do a good job. I know that i was looking to leave anyway but this is such a big slap in the face and it hurts and angers me. This isn't even me being the disgruntled employee, a whole bunch of people have told me about how its obvious that she got me forced out and how unfair it is and that people are on my side (not that it does anything but i suppose knowing their with me makes me feel a little better.) i'm so nervous that i won't find a job fast enough and so very hurt by all of this....

I'm so sorry this happened ....My philosiphy is everything happens for a reason. I know everyone says that but really, think about it. You were not really happy there were you? I think it was you who started that thread about 2 months ago. I could be lying. Who knows. But if it was you and you weren't happy where you were, then maybe this is a good thing. Now you can go on other interviews. Just trying to find the brighter side of this. Something better WILL come along. Hang in there.

In about 2 weeks you will see this as the best thing that ever happened to you.
Grieve over it, cry, throw things, get drunk, go shopping and then get down to serious pavement pounding.
In no time, you will find a great job if not your perfect job and life will go on. Right now, it's so new and raw and unbelievable.
It makes sense though. She can't handle the job, so they are bringing in a PR firm. She will oversee it and soon her job will be obsolete.
It's the way the firm is getting rid of her eventually. You were an easy target, but they won't keep her around long.
Do you qualify for severance? You will get unemployment as well..go file asap because you have a waiting week.
If you can afford it, relax for a few weeks. Get your head together.
One thing I found while desperately job searching is once I wasn't desperate anymore, I got interviews and job offers.
Sometimes when you are unhappy in a job your interviewing is not top notch. Once you are freed from that, you will do better.
Good luck..you will be fine!!

I'm sure you are hurt But (I think?) I've read a few of your posts that you were in job search mode anyway...so it's a blessing in disguise..on to bigger & better things!

I'm sorry, I know it's rough.
I always try to see the silver lining, while it might stink that you have to find a new job now I bet what you wind up with will be so much better and you'll be happier in the end.

Yes, i'm getting a whopping 2 weeks severence. no relaxing for me though...i'm actively on the job hunt and trying hard not to be upset. really though, now that it's been a week, sadness has turned to anger.
