my boy is very shy.

my boy is very shy. Byan is almost 2 and is so shy. He talks so much at home and also talks alot when his cousin is over ( they are close friends)
But at daycare he plays by himself alot its like he gets lost in the crowd. I know that its not a developmental issue becasue he is doing everything he should. He interacts with his teachers and such but he is just very shy. He loves his cousin and plays well with him. I as a child was painfully shy and i still am quiet as was my husband. Is there anything that i can do to make him more outgoing?

I was a shy kid til i was about 15, then I came out of my shell and you wouldn't even know i hid behind my parents for years.

Don't force him, he'll come out his own pace. i remember my mom forcing me to go off and play with other kids i just met or knew and I was mortified, i still remember what that felt like-it's awful. It took a bit longer than most kids, but I warmed up sooner or later.

My parents did however, used to make me say hello/goodbye to people and I always had to make eye contact no matter what. They did encourage me to participate all the time as well.
