My cat has really dry skin
He has a pink nose and it is scabbing from the dry weather and also his skin is flaking underneath his fur. Oh, and I have been finding clumps of fur around the house - poor baby, what can I do for him???

Re: My cat has really dry skin
A humidifier? And maybe a call to the vet?

Re: My cat has really dry skin
My cat has such dry skin and allergies that every year in the fall he rips a whole somewhere on his face from scratching. He gets a cordizone shot once a year.

Oh this is good to know...does it help?
My twomales get such dry skin this time of the year they get scabs from scratching near their face and ears too and I feel so bad for them.
LAst time I took them to the vet for it...I think last winter or the one before, the vet said there wasnt much we could do, it was Winter related...but I feel bad for them.

Re: My cat has really dry skin
my dog has dry skin and we bough this spray to help it at the pet store. He's had frequent baths because we found a tick on him, so we haven't used it yet. I think they make it for cats too.

Re: My cat has really dry skin
My chloe had this problem and I decided to treat it from the inside...what she was ingesting. So I researched her food...and found out all the preservatives and fillers could have been some of the cause so I switched to Nutro (after research of course). After a month, the problem cleared up and has not returned. Once in a while she will get a little flakey but it goes away if I comb her a bit. You can also try adding a little Veg. oil to the food...my dad used to do that with my dog.

Also try a little olive oil on their food.... I agree, start from the inside!

The shot is fantastic. He gets it once a year and then wears off, but it works really well for an entire year!
