My CC cookies were bad
I was so excited. I followed the directions in my Betty Crocker cook book. They came out tasting weird. Such a downer when you REALLY want homemade CC cookies. Tomorrow Im going to try the recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag!

Re: My CC cookies were bad
agreed-- the Toll House recitpe is the best.. can't go wrong.
Another thing I would suggest is getting an oven thermometer. Usually ovens are off a bit- and especially with cookies- it affects how they look when they come out-- they'll still taste ok-- but, if it's too hot or whatever-- they'll get all flat and stuff.

Re: My CC cookies were bad
I have had only one really bad batch in my life and after all was said and done, I realized what I had done. I had used baking powder instead of baking soda. Huge huge mistake because the cookies tasted like crap. Retrace your steps because you could have made a simple substition error.

Re: My CC cookies were bad
I did the tollhouse one, except I used shortening instead of butter (all my butter was frozen) and I didn't want to wait!
They weren't too bad...a little on the dry side
