My daughter has Mono. Any advice?
My 6 yo was dx with mono today, she is exhausted, swollen glands, her fever just broke yesterday, Any advice or tips? Do you think I could send her back to school on monday if she is feeling better or should she be out for a few weeks? She has been sick for 2 weeks already. TIA

Poor thing. How long did the doctor say it's contagious for? I would just be worried about other kids catching it if you send her back to school.

She said it is contagious only if you share a fork, a straw, etc. It lives in saliva. Like you said, I am worried about the other kids, i think I would be upset if I heard someone in class had mono, but the doc said it is fine to send her as long as her energy is back to normal I think I may keep her put 1 more week.

I believe that she has to be out for awhile do to her spleen being enlarged. What did the doctor say about coming back for a follow up?
Usually my students that are out with mono are out for a couple of weeks. I would also call the school and arrange for work.
I hope that she feels better soon.

Doc said no gym for the next 3 weeks because of her spleen and no t-ball. But other tan that she said regular activity. I think we follow up with the doc in about 1 month.

Re: My daughter has Mono. Any advice?
When I had mono in hs I had to go to have my bloodwork done every couple of days and once they saw that it was looking normal I was allowed back to school. I was out about a week and a half.
