My daughter is allergic to cats
To those who feel it is perfectly fine to bring animals where they shouldn't be- thank you for being that self absorbed.
Because DD's so young, and has shown to also have a food allergy as well, the doctor was VERY serious about the real possibility that they could become life threatening due to her having respiratory reactions to the cats. He also exprects she'll likely develop an allergy to dogs as well- so basically we are waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I have chosen to remove the allergen from my home by rehoming my cats to family (who adore them).
I will NOT be bringing DD to Petco, the dog park, or ANY known "animal friendly" establishments to protect her. Apparently, that's not good enough because I still have to worry about people who choose to do what THEY want without a care about others. SO- rather than just quietly roll my eyes at the people who insist on bringing their pets to places they shouldn't, I WILL be that person who will make a fuss about it.
I'm refusing to get drawn into an argument here, so this will be my only public post about it. I just felt I needed to share another perspective as to WHY some people feel so strongly about animals in places they "shouldn't" be.
If anyone has an issue with it- feel free to fm me.

Re: My daughter is allergic to cats
Ugh, Amy I'm sorry to hear about this news, that stinks. What a bummer that your daughter will not have the experience of growing up having a dog or cat, I believe it is something every youngster should get the chance to experience.
It's scary to think if your daughter just sits in a cart or is near someone with a dog or cat with them somewhere in public that she could be SO affected. I presume you will now be traveling with an epi pen and fully charged cell phone.
Hopefully, this will be an allergy she will grow out of. My brother was pretty sensitive as a small kid but as he got older the dog allergy went by the wayside, the cat allergy did not and to this day, if he's around a cat he immediately blows up. The poor guy looks like he went 10 rounds with Tyson in a matter of minutes.
