My DD wants to shave!! - need recommendations
my DD who will be 10 in January wants to shave her legs and she also is starting to be bothered by her eye brows she has a slight uni-brow.
Im on the fence about shaving her legs as she is still young but i get she is self conscious about it. i think esp. since she cheers and she is a flyer. I will probably have her hold off longer but when the time comes what razor is suggested?
As for the uni-brow I am ok with helping her get rid of this. what do you suggest?
I dont think I want to get her waxed. I am currently actually looking for a new wax place as I use to go to my nail salon but no longer go there and cant believe how much more expensive it is at other places!! So maybe whatever is suggested I can use too

Re: My DD wants to shave!! - need recommendations
Funny you mention this. DD turned 10 in June. Last summer she started complaining that her hairy legs make her feel self conscious. She has skin that tans very dark, thanks to her Italian dad , but she also has very hairy legs with very dark hair (thanks to me- and I'm Polish and very fair skin with fine, fine head hair so no idea where my monkey legs came from!) I told her we can discuss it this year. DH and I spoke too and he said that if it makes her self conscoius we should let her do it- he doesn't want her to have a complex. I agreed.
So this summer I let her try out my buzzer. It's one that I used to use on my bikini area and I use it to buzz my arms now and then when they look hairy. It doesn't really shave close, but it also doesn't really leave stubble. And of course she can't cut herself with it. She tried it a few times and liked it I feel like she hasn't done it in a while though, almost like the allure of it wore off.
I think I will get her a teen electric razor or something like that if she wants to keep it up.
I wouldn't get them waxed at this age. I feel like number 1 she wouldn't be good with the pain, and #2 their skin is still kind of young and tender at this age.

Re: My DD wants to shave!! - need recommendations
this is one of the million reasons i'm happy to have had a son. i didn't have to think about razors until he was about 15.
i don't have any recommendations on the legs. on the possible unibrow... i would say maybe clean it up that small area with nair. originally, i thought to say to use tweezers and just clean up the stray hair or two... then i read Nell's comment about tender skin.

My DD wants to shave!! - need recommendations
DD wanted to shave her legs since last summer (she's 10 now). I told her she was too young and her hair gets so light from the sun, I didn't think it was noticeable. But, this year, she brought it up again and I figured it was okay. We got the Flawless leg shaver and it's great. I help her and we've only done it twice this summer. I also tweeze her "uni-brow" - really it's like 10 tiny, light hairs LOL. that gets done once every few months when she asks & feels like tolerating the pain. I know some people use nair but DD's skin is super sensitive, so I didn't want to try the chemicals.

I'm also thinking for the unibrow, they sell something I've seen on TV ads that is supposed to be good for lip hair, chin hair, unibrow etc. It's like a battery operated thing. I forget the name of it. that might be good.

that's probably the flawless face thing. We have that too...I use it on DD's 3 armpit hairs that she's mortified about LOL It would probably work for brows too- it's about the size of a lipstick.

My DD wants to shave!! - need recommendations
I was traumatized by being made fun of the hair on my legs at 11, and it was blonde. I’ve decided that whatever ages my daughters ask to, they’ll be allowed to start shaving.
As for her eyebrows, what about threading? I have a feeling my eldest will want to do something about her slight one too-I’m thinking threading will be the easiest.

We also use the flawless products for my daughter. I might in the minority, but treading hurt me like a mother F'er. I started getting my eyebrows waxed at 14 and the pain is only for a minute so it wasn't bad. Until then I would just pluck!

OMG let her shave! As a dark Italian girl it was traumatizing having hair on my legs, my mom finally relented when I was 8. She's 10, not 3! I like the 5 blade venus razors myself. You cut yourself less.

My DD wants to shave!! - need recommendations
I don’t remember how old I was but I have pretty sparse hair on my legs. Even now I only have to shave once a week at most. I think if my DD’s legs were hairy enough to make her self conscious I’d let her shave.
I like the Billie razors. The blades come with shave soap attached which made me nervous because of those intuition razors back in the day that were skin slicers but these are great. I’ve never cut myself.

If she is self conscious I would let her do it. I shaved my legs by the age of 10.

Re: My DD wants to shave!! - need recommendations
You can try one of those rechargeable electric shavers first. They don't give a super close shave, but they do a good enough job of getting rid of the hair. That way she doesn't need to commit to razors, ingrowns, rashes, and cuts just yet.
