My dh and I are having a discussion about what kind of stove to put in. (poll)

I hate propane, hate the people I have to deal with, hate the canisters, hate what it does to my pots and pans and want electric, and my dh wants this.

I want electric, my dh hates electric, doesnt want to run a special line, doesnt want it at all.

What's your opinion.

P.S. Natural gas is not an option because its not available.

Electric but we have no choice. Apparantly, no gas lines on the street (or area) yet. Chat Icon

ETA: It will take some adjusting as far as getting used to cooking from gas to electric, however, the one thing I am happy about, is the electric tops are so much easier to clean than the gas. Chat Icon

after having a gas stove in my apt for 6.5 years, I would NEVER EVER want an electric stove again!!

I vote for propane!

I have propane ...... its cheap...I get a bill for 20 bucks every couple of months...granted I don't cook much...lol

He built a little shed/house to hide it and I always burn my food on electric.

I only like electric...I have gas now and I hate it...I feel like I can't regulate the flames at all!

Propane all the way. We had electric in our apartment and hated it. It wasn't the newest so I'm sure there is better out there but it never seemed to cook evenly (oven or stove). AND I lit a dishtowel on fire from the stove! Chat Icon

Only thing better was cleaning the stove was easier.

I have natural gas which I love. But since it's not an option for you, I voted gas/propane. I had electric for years and I swear that gas/propane is so much better than electic when it comes to cooking.

When we redo our kitchen, we're going to look into the combo gas stovetop burners/electric oven units....

I have gas to heat my house, but the previous owners never had a line to the stove, so their was an electric stove there. We recently replaced it with a smooth top electric convection oven. While I love my oven and have no complaints about it, I do miss cooking on the gas flames.

It's a real bummer that you can't get natural gas, b/c I have electric and HATE it! Ugh, it's such a pain to cook on and the glass top NEVER looks clean in my opinion. I did something to it and now it's stained. Also, heaven forbid you spill something on it when the surface is hot! Ugh, what a mess it is to clean up!

So while propane is no treat, I would say stick with it.

ITA. I have a glass top electric stovetop and I HATE it. Not only do I hate cooking on electric in general, but I hate this stovetop for all the reasons you mentioned.

I've never cooked with propane (except my BBQ grill) but it's close to gas so it gets my vote.

Isn't it the worst??? I grew up and learned to cook on a gas stove, so when I moved out and had to cook on electric, ugh, it was a hard. Then when DH and I bought our house and it came with the glass top electric stove I was so bummed. I think it's worse than the coils! Chat Icon
