My DH got one of those manual lawn mowers...
He was tired of the maintenance with the other one and wanted to give it a try. And he LOVED it- he found it easier than the gas mower, his feet aren't covered in grass and the lawn looks wonderful. He said the only drawback was that twigs got stuck in it easily, but they are also very easy to extricate.
Thought I'd mention it in case anyone was interested in something more environmentally friendly. I think it was $85 at Home Depot.

ohhhh that is AWESOME!!! I'm getting one for my DH for Fathers day!!!! I read recently that using a standard gas mower on a 1/4 acre is equivalent to letting 7 cars run for one hour SO WASTEFUL!

How long does it last? DH was thinking of getting one but he read they don't cut weeds and you need to recut every 3-5 days.

We have one too, and LOVE it!! The cut lasts as long as a gas powered lawn mower. We cut either once a week or once every other week depending on how fast the lawn grows. It can cut weeds too (our lawn has plenty of weeds..LOL) just not thick brush.

We need to do something about the edges, etc (Our property isn't level, which I loved at first, but it's a PITA with the edges).
I don't think we'll need to recut any sooner than we did with the gas mower. In fact, DH hated the gas mower so much that sometimes our grass would get embarrassingly long.

Re: My DH got one of those manual lawn mowers...
DH just got the one from Lowes - I think it is their brand - Task Force.
He went to two Home Depots and they were out of all of the manual mowers which is how he ended up at Lowes.

Which Home depot did your DH get it from - b.c looking online and in the stores (the ones we checked have been out) the scotts was $129 and the $85 was a Great States. I think he rather have a scotts than a brand he hadn't heard of.
DH is thinking of returning the one he got and switch it to one from Home Depot (better reviews) if he can find one.
