My dog pees on his front paws! Help!!
Hello, I have a male Rhodesian ridgeback he just turned 1. I am an animal lover, but DH not so much. Anyway, he is peeing directly in his front paws, then coming inside and getting pee all over! I've been washing his paws every time he comes inside, but this is driving DH crazy! We are starting to have fights over this, and it makes me soooo sad! It happens when he squats, and the very few times he decides to lift his leg it seems to not happen. Is there any remedy for this? Does this happen to anyone else? Any way to make him lift his leg all the time?

Do you know any other male dogs? Maybe take them for a walk together. My dog is the exact opposite, he lifts his leg to pee AND poop. But my friend's dog didn't "know" to lift his leg until he was at the dog park and saw another dog doing it. Or that's our theory anyway. Good luck!

Is he getting pee splash on his feet or is it the actual stream of pee directly hitting his feet? I find that if they pee on grass it cuts back on the splashing and even just taking him for a walk might motivate him to lift his leg. And like PP suggested, bring him around male dogs might inspire him to lift his leg too. And what about if you take him out more often, maybe his steam won't be as forceful? He may also start lifting his leg when he becomes a fully mature male. Right now he is only an adolescent. He might start lifting more often this coming year.
A lot of male dogs pee/splash on their front legs. So many people don't know that that can happen. I am always pointing that out to people who are looking to get a puppy, it's another good reason to get a female. Especially if the dog has long hair, that makes it even more work to clean off. Then again depending on where they are peeing my female dog gets pee on her feet sometimes when she pees on concrete due to gravity.

He pees directly on his paws! I wish it was just splashes. A friend of mine has a male dog, so I'm going to try bringing him around. Although my dog is a large dog, and he seems unstable on three legs, but I'm hoping he gets better at it! Thanks!!

Is he peeing in the grass? Is there anything for him to aim on?Probably his size is the issue....takes time for a male dog to lift his leg. Especially if he has never seen it...my male dog took some time to learn to lift not squat. Also depends on if he has anything to aim at.
