My dog spot has uti....
I found out on easter my female dog. She does not go outside cause she has leg problems. She goes on newspaper. I found that she was urining blood. I got her to the vet and she has a uti. The only thing is the vet gave me meds and she does not want to take the pills at all. I am not sure what to put the pills in anymore. I been putting them in cheese, turkey.

Re: My dog spot has uti....
I find the easiest way to give the animals meds is to open their mouths and push the pill as far back as I can, then close their mouth, hold it closed and stroke their neck until they swallow.
Both my animals will either spit out or remove pills from cheese, etc....so this works best for us.

1. You have a dog named Spot? That's AWESOME.
2. I also put the pill in my dog's mouth and rub his neck until he swallows. It works well and quickly. To be honest, eventually they catch on and it's even easier.
3. I hope she's feeling better soon!!

Putting it in cheese works for us...if not we just put it in her mouth from the side b/c she cant really fight it and rub her neck like someone else said. It wont take long for it to go away

Something called pill pockets. They sell them at the pet stores.

Re: My dog spot has uti....
Sorry to hear about your dog, Spot.
We do the trick with holding her mouth closed and stroking her neck too. Our vet also told us we could mix her pills in a little peanut butter. She loves it!! Just make sure to mix them in good, or break it up if it's a big pill. You want to make sure she gets the pill and doesn't just lick the PB off!! Hope she feels better!!
