My dog took a flying leap onto my belly
He's a 20lb dachshund but he jumps around like a spring. I was lying on the couch last night. He was aiming to jump over me and land at my feet (as if he could jump 5 feet forward). For a split second the pain was terrible. I think I saw stars. Then I just got really angry but I felt perfectly fine. I think I'll just tell my doctor at the next visit. Could my little dog really do harm?

Re: My dog took a flying leap onto my belly
It is ok. I have a 17lb beage that walked across my stomach until the day I gave birth and DS is fine....well, except that smooshed spot on his head.
JUST KIDDING

If you are feeling fine I am sure everything is OK. If you are worried, you can always just call the doctor.
My 13 pound cat was laying on me one night and used my stomach as her launching pad to jump off... hurt for a second, but everything was fine... baby's still swimming around!

My 32 lb Pug used my belly as a battering ram one night......DS is fine. I always call the Dr just to be safe though. Let them decide what's best

Yeah, I do feel fine. My only concern is that split second when I had a bad pain. He's done this when I was not pregnant but I never felt that. I've only felt the baby once so far, but I wish I could feel him right now.

Re: My dog took a flying leap onto my belly
I think it hurts so much, b/c the skin is stretched so thin. My 30 lb dog did/does that to me. (as well as my 30+ lb son)
A friend of mine fell during pregnancy and broke her wrist from putting it out to protect her belly. But the Dr said the belly is so protected - she may have been better falling on her stomach - instead of breaking her wrists. Of course - not everyone breaks their wrists falling, but the gist is that the baby is very well padded!

Re: My dog took a flying leap onto my belly
Pets are so silly during this time. But I don't have to worry about injuries because I have a parakeet. He only attacks DH when he gets close to me, even before I started showing. He never did that before! I would definately mention it to the doctor!
